So Meg's G110v2 comes with the W68DA backing plate. The W68DA is designed to work with the the 7" soft buff 2.0 pads. I've read on the forums that diameter of the W68DA itself is 6".

I have Meg's 6.5" soft buff pads and thinking about getting some LC CSS 6.5" pads.

My question is how well does W68DA feel with the the Meg's and LC 6.5" pads? And does the edge of the backing plate come dangerously close to the edge of these 6.5" pads?

I'm not interested in the 7" soft buff 2.0 pads at all because I want to try out the LC CSS pads. I'm wondering if the G110v2 with the LC 6.5" pads are a good combo for my next purchase.

Using 6.5" pads on a PC is just an exercise in frustration anyhow IME. The amount of friction that results in backing plate failures also limits the amount of pressure you can apply, usually so much so that the machine merely "jiggles" with a reasonable amount of pressure.

It's best to mach plates/pads a bit more closely anyhow; 5" plates are too small (for even pressure distribution and/or to avoid "cookie cutting" the pad) for use with anything larger than 6", and even that's really too big. Via PC, 5" plates work best with 5.5" pads (and 6" plates with nothing larger than 6.6" pads).

Found this in a unrelated thread... Accumulator believes 6" plates actually works better with 6.5" pads. But that only leaves 0.5" of play room and about 0.25" on each side is that enough?

Yes, it is enough. I agree with Accumulator. Not only are 6.5" pads the biggest I would ever use on a DA (7" pads on a DA are just a joke - not sure what Meg's is smoking), but a 5"/6" BP with the 5.5"/6.5" pad is the ideal combo, IMO. This way, the BP covers as much of the pad as possible without going to the edge. In doing so, you get even downward force across the entire pad, not just the center. If I am using a Meg's 6.5" pad, I always have the their W68DA BP on with it.
