Funny but true story

Got a call from someone who wanted their van detailed and we agreed on a date for me to pick it up. I got a ride from my son and when I saw the van I almost died. It had leaves/ branches and sap all over it. The keys were left on the console, when I opened the door the smell almost killed me. the carpets were the worst I ever saw in my career. grease/tar/paint/food stains/ the works. Now comes the good part, when I went to start it guess what, IT WOULDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Thank God, I thought. I went back to my shop and called the owner and told him about it, when he asked when my next opening was I told him I was full for the next 3 months. Gary :LOLOL

I would have charged him $15 just for the consult and wasted time!

How much did you agree to charge in the first place?

$250 before I saw the van, after I saw it would of been $750

LOL! . . . and that would cover materials.

Considering the condition of the van I am surprised the customer didn't wait out the three months and have you detail it then.

I hate when people completely misrepresent their vehicles over the phone. I tell them that the price range I give them is conditional and no final price will be given until I see it in person.

I've never had a customer's car not start (don't do pick-up and delivery anyway) but I've run into vehicles so bad that just the interior took more than the time of a full detail.
