fresh paint

I just painted my 94 mustang GT a week ago and need some advice on protecting the paint. The paint is PPG 3-stage. I was told no sealer or wax for three months. The only wax I was told I could use is PRESTA FAST WAX. This stuff smells like nail polish remover.I dont want to keep putting this stuff on my new paint. The car is not garaged and I work at the airport. Any help would be appreciated and THANK YOU in advance.

contrary to some peoples thoughts Fk1 #2180 paint sealant is totally safe for fresh paint. The sealant lets the paint breath so it isnt an issue. Many other sealants are safe but the manufacturers dont advise it in case there was an issue (better safe than sorry).

Yea, its a touchy subject, Some people say you should, some say you shouldn't. Usally I would say, do whatever it says on the can. I have no expierience with new paint though.

What you may want to do is instead of using a sealent on the car apply a few coats of wax. 3 months is not all that long and as long as you have SOME protection you should be fine if possible try to park in shaded areas etc. Most Carnuba waxes SHOULD give you ~30-45 days of protection.

never apply any wax to a new paint because it will not cure. was it done at a paint and body shop? if so was it baked? when i recently painted my truck they said don't wax for a month and if i want some protection use a non silicone based hand glaze. Apply by hand with a microfiber.

you will want to stay away from products that have silicone in them, even your tire dressing, just incase the dressing slings when your drive soon after appling the dressing

Auto Magic's BC-2 is a product that can be used on new paints :)

From fk1's website:

FINISH KARE 2180 ULTRA Seal A.S.

BODY SHOP SAFE

2180 ULTRA is a polymer sealant not a wax or a glaze and can be applied as a final enduring finish to freshly painted surfaces within 24 hours of repair.

Formulated with polymer/copolymer and amino functional resins these effect a cationic factor which allows them to attach to the finish forming a protective film allowing paint to breathe and withstand high temperatures up to 400 degrees.

2180 ULTRA contains no dimethyl silicones, as they are a wet greasy evaporative, migratory component. This special formulation allows the solvents to evaporate while not allowing contaminates to attack the surface; in other words they breathe out, not in.

• 2180 ULTRA will breathe with fresh paint
• No harmful silicones
• Gives long lasting protection and gloss
• Easy application and removal
• Will not evaporate or wash away
• Will not hide or cover-up
• Patented anti-static formula eliminates dust cling

I totally reccomend it.
