Fresh Paint Care

I had a minor road accident and my new hood was repainted.

I noted some swirl marks on the hood (silver w/clearcoat in as new conditions). The best products I have available are Meguiars (I live in Mexico), so my questions are:

What do I have to use to remove swirl marks?

When can I wax/polish?

Can I safely clay before doing any detailing on the fresh paint?

Any other advices are appreciated.

PLEASE, don´t use abreviations on your replys, I get SO confused.

Thank You.

For one thing, take it back to the shop that did the work and point out the defects so they can correct them for you.

If you had to do it yourself, try to saty within bodyshop safe products. 3M PIII-MG or Megs SFP.

As for the acronyms: What the hell do they mean?

If it was my car, I'd bring it back and explain your dissatisfaction first.

Deanski

manueljlg- Welcome to Autopia. I can't tell from your post whether or not the swirls were from the shop that repainted your hood or maybe from something that happended afterwards. Either way, I like Deanski's idea about taking it to the shop and talking with them about it.

GENERALLY, you have to wait at least a month before waxing/sealing fresh paint, often longer. In the meantime, you can use something like 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze (pn 39007).

You SHOULD be OK claying, but be gentle about it.

Thank You for your replys. The swirls are in the new painted area. The shop (Dodge Dealer) it´s like an hour away (I live in a small town), and I would prefer to do it myself. I have most of the non-profesional Meguiars products, I was thinking about buying Meguiars Swirl remover or Show glaze. I take a lot of care of my paint, I wax and polish very often, I sometimes use an orbital buffer (Turtle Wax). Which Meguiars product will do the job?

Thank you all.
