I have a Carrera 4S on Sunday thats been to the "Dr." Its had a "facial", and a little "collagen" pumped in her (I'll be in Hollywood btw), but Ive been asured, the "Dr" said its been cured with a heat lamp, and its ok the wax.............

Opinions needed on products........im assuming very minor polishing, or paint cleaning, but what about a sealant....?

Patrick,

I'd still be wary of putting anything on it that is not "body shop safe". Maybe just top it with something from the Meguiar's line, and then recommend you go back in a few weeks to seal it off?

ive painted cars for the past 16 years but only recently became a autopian...nearly every car that left our shop had some kind of wax or sealant on it and we never had a problem

but to be 100% safe i would suggest still waiting 40-60 days before sealing it..use whatever polish and glaze you like, they bodyshop no doubt already polished it

I expect Accumulator will weigh in here about outgassing that continues as part of the curinng process. If I remember correctly from what I've read here, it's safe to wax a new car from the factory because they bake it on the panels, but at much higher temps than is safe to do with a fully assembled car in a body shop. If the outgassing doesn't have a chance to finish, it will look fine but the paint will never have a chance to acheive full hardness. The heat lamps should accelerate this process, but they wouldn't provide enough heat to eliminate it. What your body shop is claiming about being ready to wax going counter to what the paint companies themselves have to say on the subject.

I agree on sticking with body shop safe products for at least a month or two, even in your case. I have some nice Mequiars #5 I'll swap for something. ;)
