Forever Black and tire care...

Hello everyone... This is my first post on this forum, but I have been lurking for a while. About the entire summer actually. I did a search on tire care and came up with a LOT of posts there weren't anything that I'm looking for.

Here's the problem... I bought into the Forever Black deal and put two coats on. Mostly because I wanted a satin finish, and didn't want to have to re-dress my tires ever wash. Well, I'm EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! Today was the first wash since I put the two coats on. I used ONR, as we are still on water restrictions, and it seems to have stripped the FB off. My tires look dull grey now, worse than they did before I put the FB on in fact. The are brand new tires, less than 600 miles on them.

What is the consensus on tire dressing here? I know everyone has their favorite, but I'm willing to try a few. What I'm looking for is a satin type finish, not super wet looking, and I would like something that isn't going to spin off the tires onto the panels. That is why I left tire gels to begin with, no matter how little I put on, how much I wiped off, how long I let it dry, or what the bottle promised, every one of them spun off.

Thanks for the help,

Wade

My two favorites that have a satin finish (or more gloss with additional coats), not greasy, and don't sling are Poorboy's BnB and Zaino Z-16. I'd give Z-16 a slight edge for durability.

Make sure you clean your tires with a good tire cleaner or an APC before you apply the new dressing for max looks and durability.

\r\n\r\nI have had good results from amazing roll off. Is that a good enough cleaner before the z16? I actually just placed an order Friday for the z5, z2, and the accelerator. Normally I\'m a Menzerna user, but I figured I would fall into the pit like everyone else and try some different stuff. I haven\'t even had a chance to touch this car yet, just picked it up a month ago, but the dealer had it \"detailed\" before I picked it up, against what I told them, and its horrible. I wouldn\'t even pick it up but I didn\'t want them to mess it up any more. There was heavy wax residue crammed into every crevice just about.\r\n\r\nThanks... :2thumbs:'

I understand what you mean by "EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED" in the Forever Black.

I bought some before doing an in-depth search here on Autopia and also paid the price. I didn't even get past one tire which was streaky and nasty before I quit. Not to mention that the stuff is a mess.

I agree with Eliot on the PB's BnB, it gives a good matt finish.

Thank you both for your help. I was actually optimistic when I had to really scrub to get the little it off my wheels (rims) polished lip. I just ordered some z16. Too bad I didn't get to it when I ordered my first try of z5 and z2. Also, is Amazing Roll Off a good cleaner to hit the tires with before the z16? I will try the PB later if I'm not satisfied with the z16. I just figured that because I'm already trying some of their products, I will try some others.

Thanks,

I use EO A-Z all wheel cleaner, just follow directions it works well. I also like BNB for that super black satin look. I first spray the tire, then use the curved tire dressing applicator. I then wait about 10 minutes, and go over all 4 of them again with just the applicator to remove any residual.

I have had decent luck with the Optimum Tire shine, the gallons keep going up in price so I may hunt for something else next time
