For us "Old Farts"

I actually went to a brick & mortar bookstore last weekend (old school in itself) to finally use a gift card I got for Christmas ... the big signs that greeted you as you went in 'WE HAVE VINYL!"

...BTW when did it become "vinyl" ??? In my day it was just a record. Now hipsters like it, it's suddenly "vinyl"....

Common enough terminology in audio circles, at least since the seventies (wouldn't be surprised if it was earlier).

Became very common in the early eighties when CD's started coming on strong. Although nobody referred to CD's as "polycarbonate."

In olden days records used to be made out of acetate and were rigid and more brittle. They changed to a more flexible vinyl material and was a selling point for a while.
