For those of you who don't believe Vanilla Moose fills swirls...

Once again, I got a little bored today, and started feeling some PC withdrawal. I just had to use it...after all, it's been 3 weeks

Anyways, my dad has a 1966 Mustang convertible that's 95% restored...the exterior is complete, just need to set up the ignition and get the interior together.

The paint is red Dodge Viper paint. Absolutely swirled to hell...SO, I decided to see just how good the fillers in ClearKote's Vanilla Moose hand glaze really work, since the halogen lamps show no remorse for paint defects. I got out my PC w/ a white CMA polishing pad, some Sonus applicator pads, S100 paint cleanser, and EX-P. I cleaned the existing wax off the panel (NXT was on there if any of you care) with S100 paint cleanser. I then applied VM to my PC's pad, spread it on the fender, turned the PC on 3 to spread it evenly, then cranked it up to 5 and worked it in for a bit. After buffing it off, I was amazed at how much it hid the swirls. But, there were still some left.

I decided to go at it again with Vanilla Moose. I re-applied, did the same thing, and this time worked it in at 6. After buffing it off, I was very impressed...no more "spider-web" swirls. Of course there were very few minor scratches that weren't hidden (not swirls, horizontal scratches.....gonna have to polish them out).

Anyways, sorry for the long post.....on to the pics!

Here you can see all the swirls!

I then topped it with EX-P for the hell of it. Once again, sorry for the long post, I hope you guys find this useful!

Yeah Matt, good report and nice work. :up

I've been a fan of the Moose for awhile but haven't applied it like you described.

I think I'll give my Acura some VM with the PC and see if I get the same results.

No problem guys, I'm glad you find it helpful.

Now as far as I understand, VM only has light chemical cleaners, and mostly fills swirls, right?

Vanilla Moose has light abrasives in it.

What he said.

VM is most likely removing, not filling, the swirls. If you were to spray IPA on it, I doubt the scratches will reappear.

Alright, I just sprayed it and wiped several times with an IPA/water mixture, and there was no increase in swirls. I guess it did remove them then. :)

Very nice! I primarily use VM as my final glaze but I have been pretty happy how well it cleans up minor cobwebbing and light scratches....and even happier they don't come back!

I've been wanting to buy some Vanilla Moose lately after seeing all the positive Autopian reviews of it. I think it'll make a nice addition to FTG and AIO, the two products I use post-polishes and pre-wax/sealants.

Since my black car's a daily driver, I think VM topped with something like S100 would help hide the inevitable small swirls and scratches that you just can't polish out all the time.

I finally got to try this product last week. My car was recently polished with #80 and topped with NXT. I just went right at it with the VM and the difference was VERY noticeable. It just gave the paint a very rich look. The untreated parts seemed dull and dry in comparidon. I thought maybe if I buffed enough, it would come right off, but NO. Only excess is buffed off and the rest works itself in. Awesome product, especially compared to IHG, which is the only other glaze I've tried before.

hmmm, so you use this product to basically QD between waxing/sealing? When is the proper way to use VM.

No. QD is way off the mark!

Think of it as a light SMR and glaze rolled in one product. Certain sealants will go over it ( EX-P and WG come to mind ) and also waxes ( preferably paste waxes ). The VM adds depth and wetness as a glaze.

I cant wait to try it out!!

Hey Matt! Looks great. Do you think you could have skipped the S100 paint cleanser and gone straight to the VM? It seems like they have some similar characteristics.

So this so called "Vanilla Moose" :p can replace my regular polishes such as DACP and SFP?

Not quite but it will clean up light marring, swirls and scratches. Great on glass too.
