Good video....I should be looking into a foam gun pretty soon....Got a couple questions regarding these tho....
From what I've read...The purpose of a foam gun is to cut down / eliminate the amount of swirls / marring that CAN come from the washing process (ie getting grit caught in a wash cloth)..
Now....After you've foamed the entire vehicle, you're supposed to go over this with as wash mitt, using the foam as the soap (from what I've read this was my understanding)
But in reality, isn't there just as much chance of marring your paint with a foam gun method (then using the mitt to scrub the foam) as apposed to the hand washing (Ie a double or triple bucket method)....The majority of your marring will probably come when you start using your mitt on the paint. IF there is any grit there (that's either on the paint on on your wash cloth) you still have the same chance of marring it..
As our fellow autopian,
Accumulator put it, washing is essentially like trying to get sand off a glass surface without touching it (or moving the sand over the glass)...Everytime your put your mitt overtop of the sand/glass (again using this analogy) you've got a chance of marring your paint...
So how does a foam gun "lift" these particles off the dirt so your mitt can simply breeze them off...Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the foam guns use.....It just makes sense in my head that anytime you've running your mitt over a surface with any sort of particles trapped between the surface, you've got a chance of putting in micromarring...
If I'm not making myself clear let me know and I'll try to explain in a different way
Even from the video you can tell it's significantly faster using htis method...But does it prevent as much marring as say the double or triple bucket method of washing a car with a mitt?
Perhaps someone could explain further??
