Anybody used CMA's imported, flexible backing plate for the P-C.? Couldn't find anything thru 'search'.

CMA writes:

Molded urethane, flexible backing plates are vastly superior to the rigid backing plates commonly used in the U.S. These backing plates eliminate spontaneous heat build-up which can occur when transitioning over curves or when working with the edge of the pad.

I think they are literally "Hot off the press". If you do try them give us feedback....

Anyone got any weights on this puppy? Sounds interesting.

I wonder just how flexible they really are though. I mean, for all we know that guy in the pic could be sweating and making this horribly contorted face bending it like that. :D

I have had the urethane plates for several months now and very-much like them over their plastic counterparts.

The plate in your picture is about 6 1/4" and needs an adaptor to fit a DA. The plate kicks butt for a rotary, but is way too heavy for a DA. It will vibrate your arms off.

The plate fits perfectly into the recessed back of the LC curved edge pad. These pads come only in yellow cutting, white polishing and black finishing.

It is a good plate for the rotary, but watch your speed as the smaller size will cause the polisher to spin faster than you are used to at your usual speed.

As for flexability, I can fold the edge to 90 degrees with two fingers and a thumb without much strain.

I got mine from CMA for the rotary and it was defective. I am sending it back on the weekend. The flex part is separated from the base in one spot.

But it looks real awesome. I'm excited to try it.

Ah, good info. I never knew it was so large (and heavy) and just forgot about that little detail.

Hey i've tried the flexible backing plates from CMA and absolutely love them.

They work briliantly on my Wagoneer 4x4 especially on the edges of the roof and fenders. Kept me from ruining a few spots with my 7424 :xyxthumbs. The plate mounted up to it with no adapters which was great. I will continue using CMA just because most of their products are topps, and pricing is less expensive than other IDC's most of the time.
