A guy called me at 10pm and needed his jeep 'detailed' for a car show. I didnt quite realize that when he said it was a 'real' rock crawler, that the rocks had taken its toll.. Here's the reserrection..

SINCE IT WAS PRETTY LATE AT NIGHT, AND I DIDNT WANT MY EQUIPMENT RUNNING LOUD IN A NEIGHBORHOOD, I DECIDED TO DO THE DETAIL AT AN EMPTY CAR WASH. ALSO THE LIGHT WAS GREAT.

all Ardex products.. I freakin love thier stuff. Alpha Grit with my Cyclo for the compounding. Show Glaze with Cyclo for polishing. Nano Sealant for the finale. Also used 7 cans of primer, 11 cans of black, and 5 cans of clear for the grill and underneath. Nothing extreme, but decent results for what I had to start with! ha.

Very nice job... Also great idea to detail it their instead of in the neighboorhood!!

Yes that is what I hear, still waiting on my samples cough BERRY cough... Hopefully this weekend I can get my hands on some samples:clap:

OK what... You took the Jeep to the local coin op?? What happened to all of your own equipment? And what's up with the pics? Cell phone? I can't see how everyone is complementing the detail.. You can't see any of it. everything is blurry. No offense because I have seen some amazing details you've done but I wouldn't have put this one up in the C&B section. there's just nothing here to really look at.

looks pretty good but you need a better camera. next time you order from ardex try there 1000, 1500 also there highline is a great polish it has some filling potentials, but just do a good ipa wipedown. so how do you like there nano sealent? I was just talking to the owner of ardex the other week about that stuff. Steve Goldman is a great guy. he is a owner who actually cares about his products and keeping prices reasonable. nice detail flawless.

yeah, im definately looking to try different ardex products. and i LOVE thier nano sealant. really makes the paint POP. And from what the local dealer told me, thier is a 6 month guarantee against water spots. I have yet to use that 'guarantee', but the nano sealant has been on my truck for 3 months now and NO waterspots after it rains or when i wash it.. I also love thier stereo glaze, but it turns plastic white. now thier hand paste wax is awesome. it goes on easy, comes off with no dust, doesnt turn plastic trim white, and looks amazing! I love not having to tape off a vehicle anymore!

Jake, its obvious in the 'bad' pictures that I used my own equipment. Look at the first few pics and you can see my stuff strewn out everywhere. I used the local car wash because of the lighting and because i didnt want to disturb a neighborhood in the middle of the night. And yes, i had to use my camera phone. I was called up out of the bed at 10 pm, and i didnt have time or think about it, to grab my camera. It was definately a night and day difference with the jeep. It was in no way a show vehicle before OR after, but the customer was amazed by the results. I apologize for picture quality, but its all i had at the time..

Even if the product doesn't leave residue? If I'm just doing a wash/clay/wax with Zaino for example I usually don't tape since it's not much of an issue IME. Are there some other negative side effects that go unseen?

Sheesh, calm down...I think Barry is talking about polishing, or using a horribly staining LSP. You're fine with your wash/clay/Zaino regimen.

I usually only tape when doing an aggressive polish or compounding step. If I'm doing just a quick 1 step job with a PC then no tape. All cars are different though.

maybe its just me, but because my products do not leave any plastic white and because my cyclo runs at such a low rpm, i fail to see the need for taping..

if you mess something up, you will see the need. Why not take a few extra minutes and be safe? Plus majority of people here are using the Makita or some high speed.

if your telling me ardex alpha grit doesn't stain trim i would think again bud. not to bust your bubble but, i have been using ardex for about 10 years. a good buddy of mine is a local supplier so i know there products insde and out. trust me i got the owner on speed dial in my cell phone lol. now back to my commment always tape off like gotleather said its better to be safe the sorry. its all in the prep. flawless im just rying to help ya out man. :2thumbs:

i understand what you are saying, but with the Ardex products i use, they DO NOT stain plastic. I will make a little short video this afternoon on my wifes car to prove it. The only ardex product that i own that stains plastic is the Stereo Glaze.
