Fixing Water Etching On Vinyl Stripes

Hey all. My girlfriend has a Mini Cooper with the vinyl stripes running down the hoop. These stripes have some pretty serious water etching marks on them. I tried vinegar to no avail. I also tried some IP and Scratch-X, but doing so was rubbing off the black while not noticeably affecting the spots. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks :xyxthumbs

could you post a pic?

to me "etching" = eaten away....so there is not much you can do about it

now if you have some water spot (mineral despotis in the surface)

did you give the vinager time to dwell?

it needs time to disolve the deposit it's not a WOWO

then if that does not work I would try a chemical cleaner(KAIO, Prime, Color-X, ect..)

also I have not used it but I here good things about Danase water spot remover

I'll try to post a pic up later when she gets home from work. I'm thinking that it's etching because the vinegar and polish didn't seem to even touch them. And yes, I let the vinegar dwell--I saturated an MF towel and let it sit on there for a bit. Do you think a chemical cleaner would be alright on vinyl?
