First time using CP, have questions for current users

My L5-S1 is killing me!
Well, now I havew tried 303, PB NL, and CP on my 98 integra black interior.

303 and NL seem to be very similar (a white liquid), with the 303 being slightly darker/shinier. These leave a layer on the plastic, which I find nice in covering up scuffs/scratches on my 5 year old door sills, etc.

CP was, to my surprise, clear, and foamed slightly when sprayed.

I tried it on 2 different plastic panels and I noticed it "evaporates" (like alcohol would) instead of "leaving a layer" on the surface. To be honest, the panel looked about the same as before I applied CP. This panel has never had dressing on it also.

Just wondering if others had the same experience? It's almost too matte as it does not seem to make the panel look ANY different at all.....

some people prefer the matte look. i actually prefer a little shine on my dash and interior trim. notice i said little ;). for what you are looking for check out some tiefenpfleger.

It's not intended to. It is a quik cleaner and doesn't leave any finish than I notice.

I like it so much I am making it part of my weekly cleaning routine applied with an MF mitt. I really haven't found any other product quite like it. The MF/CP combo is a cleaning powerhouse.

It will not replace my regular Vinylex applications but I am not in a position to do that weekly nor would the plastic surfaces require it.

Cockpit Premium is a keeper :xyxthumbs

will CP remove the shine that tiefen leaves behind??

yeah, I'm not saying CP is bad necessarily, just different than what I expected.

My initial thoughts were that for cars in real good shape, CP will work fine. For cars with older looking plastics (like my car with never-dressed-in-5-years plastic), NL or 303 covers them up a bit and makes them look better.

I have tiefen to so I can play with that too. So far the only thing I used it for was a small area in my wheelwell, pitted against PB TR to see which lasts longer!

it's interesting you said CP is a cleaning powerhouse with a MF, Mike stated to me it has VERY light cleaning abilities. Oh well, gotta use it some more to tell for sure.

Don't know. Perhaps Mike M can comment...

I noticed the surface looked the best applying NL or 303 first, then adding the CP to take off a bit of the shine. So it may work for teifen.

I'm not sure I was to go over everything twice with 2 products though, I take too much time as it is.;)

By 'light cleaning abilities' I meant it was not designed to remove heavy grime. That's what Plastik-Reiniger is used for.

As far as Cockpit Prem removing some of the shine from Tiefenpfleger: it is very difficult as one Autopian found out when he posted in another thread. Tiefen is highly water-resistant so it's not so easily removed. Great for exterior trim and tires and when you want long-lasting protection. However, this same advantage makes it difficult to remove...

Regards,

my intention isn't to remove the tiefen, as i love the shine it leaves. i would like to use the tiefen though as a type of dressing and not a cleaner. at $13+shipping. wondering if i could use CP between and not sacrifice the protection and shine.

wifehatescar, I only meant that the combo of the MF mitt AND the CP are very effective cleaning team for general weekly interior dusting/cleaning....I did not mean to suggest it is for cleaning up big messes.

Sorry for the confusion.

jcrawford, what are you talking about shipping? you don't pay shipping - you just use your gas to meet up with me for your 1z products. you do, however, have to pay tax. ;)

FYI - That was me, and I would say the answer to the question about CP removing the TF shine is: No, not really. I did finally get the shine off the matte dash, but I think it was more of a combination of time and repeated wiping with a MF than any specific cleaning properties of the CP.

I accidentally picked up my bottle of TF and used it on part of the dash (instead of CP). Even now, months later, if you look in the right light, you can see that the finish of the dash where I used the TF is a little different than the rest of the interior that has only seen CP or a wet microfiber since I bought the car last summer.
