First time using a sealant - which one?

Yes I know it's only September, but I'm planning on using a sealant (my first time) on my wife's vehicle in the Spring. It will be wearing multiple coats of 845 for the winter.

So basically, I'm looking for a sealant recommendation. I've only used carnaubas in the past and I want to get some first hand experience in terms of how a sealant looks in comparison to a carnauba as well as gain some insight as to the nuances of using/applying a sealant.

Is Meg's #21 good or is it simply their NXT in a different bottle? How about FK100? Any other recommendations?

I'm looking for something user friendly that will give me that "sealant look" (at least from what I've seen here versus the carnauba look) on metallic silver…

Thanks!!

I have EX-P, it looks really nice and lasts a few months. It is very clear looking, doesn't darken paints. I like it over DWG, there is a thread where I posted picks of my light gray truck with that combo.

I have used NXT, I find it looks nice also except the look may not stay around long. NXT darkens the paint considerably and looks very wet.

All of the above are great choices. I used NXT 2 a ton back in the day.

Now I use a lot of EX-P, UPGP, 845, and Z2. Each have their strong suits.

Zaino might be a good choice, or UPGP.

If you're looking for something that's extremely slick,(the slickest I've used) look at Blackfire Wet Diamond. Posters elsewhere said two coat applications were still beading after 4 months.

Zaino, Jetseal109, Wolfgang DGPS, FK1000P are also a good sealants.

There are a ton of good options out there, but's IMO it's hard to beat Duragloss. Use 501 for a cleaner and base, top off with Aquawax. Easy to use, cheap, good looking, and durable.

So Far with ten replies you have: Ultima Paint Guard Plus, Optimum Opti-Seal, HD Poxy, NXT 2, Z2, Klasse, Blackfire Wet Diamond, FK1000P, Jetseal109, Glanz Wax, Duragloss, etc. I hope you weren't looking for a consensus. me personally I would go with the non oily type sealants like Zaino, Klasse, or yes the new HD Poxy.

Wow!

Thanks for the responses folks. I wasn't sure I'd get a consensus (although I was kind of hoping for one) but even without a sure fire winner in the number of votes, I did get the name of some pretty popular sealants that the pros use. That allowed me to do some additonal research on my own about a few top notch products.

I'm going to go with Blackfire Wet Diamond or FK1000P. The car is metallic silver and I've seen lots of positive reviews for those products on that particular color.

I was going to use Megs #21 - shows you what I know.................

from all my reading, I've seen UPGP and Blackfire be on top of most lists. I personally love FK1000P.

I have UPGP, FK1000P, Rejex, DG 105, and 845 for those who consider it a sealant :) Havent tried blackfire personally, but i have seen it and it looks great! Buy and try seems to be the way to find out what YOU like.

I'm new so I've only tried 2 different sealants, UPGP being one of them and I'd have to agree that it's a great sealant. It's practically no work - just wipe on and you're done. I've also used 4 star sealant which is good on silver but doesn't really look good on any other color.
