First-time detailing advice wanted

I'm brand-new to the forum and not a detailer, but I do have a new car that I want to keep looking great, so I need some advice. My car is a 2006 Porsche Boxster in Midnight Blue Metallic, a beautiful, almost-black blue. It has a bit of faint spider webbing that's been there since I bought it.

Question #1: Where does spider webbing come from?

At night the car is garaged, but during the day it's parked in a busy, very dusty parking lot in direct, hot California sun. So my goal is to get it polished and protected. I bought a full Zaino kit including clay, the requisite made-in-the-USA cotton towels, wool wash mitts, microfiber towels and so on, and I'm ready to tackle this project. I even plan to remove the wheels, which I thought was pretty radical until I found this site. :-)

Questions:

1) What should I be alert for? Where am I likely to get myself into trouble?

2) Can/should I use clay on the wheels including the backs? My plan was to Zaino both sides of the wheels.

3) Can Zaino clay safely be used on a brand-new paint finish?

4) On the interior I haven't yet touched the plastic instrument bezels. They're beginning to fog, so it's time to clean them, but I don't want to mar the plastic in any way, which I realize is almost impossible. I have some Plexus plastic cleaner from Autopia. How do you handle virgin plastic?

5) I'm also seeing some dust build up inside the AC vents. Is the idea that you loosen the dust with a brush, then use compressed air to blow it INTO the vent, or do you somehow suck it out?

6) So we're out yesterday driving in the hot (110!) sun getting sweat, bug spray and sunscreen on the leather seats. How do you get it off and keep the seats looking brand new?

That's a lot of questions. Thanks for any advice.

There are many different reasons spider webs are caused, Main reason I have found.

Lack of TLC.

2) Can/should I use clay on the wheels including the backs? My plan was to Zaino both sides of the wheels. I wouldnt use clay for this becuase it will ruin the clay, and clay is expensive these days.

3) Can Zaino clay safely be used on a brand-new paint finish?

Yes of course! Just make sure you use plenty of lube and apply lil pressure!

I would recommend,

I use a good vaccum with a brush attachment.

6) So we're out yesterday driving in the hot (110!) sun getting sweat, bug spray and sunscreen on the leather seats. How do you get it off and keep the seats looking brand new?

I use Lexol cleaner and conditioner for the seats, you can get this at any Pepboys or BMW delearship.

I hope this helps, Good Luck!!
