First Time Clay/Polish

Yesterday I attempted to take my CRV up another level by claying and polishing. I am very happy with the look, but I know there is more I can do. I used the following process:

Wash (PB SS&S)
PB Clay with S&W lube
Rinsed and Dryed
PB Trim Restorer for Black Trim (waited 30 min. then buffed off)
PwC Blue wiped off with Mega Plush from PB

Spray & Rinse for wheels
BnB on Tires

Ran out of time, but next time I will be adding EX-P on top of PwC, and perhaps down the line Natty's Blue. It will be good learning for me to see the effect of each level. I am happy with the look of PwC, but I assume that is because I have not yet seen what can actually be achieved.

I have to say that claying was not only easy, but quite satisfying. The paint is so smooth! Later in the evening as my wife and I are getting in the car, I am running my hand along the paint telling her how nice it feels....(insert "wife rolling eyes" here....)

I also enjoyed the wiping off the polish and seeing the result.

Nice work. Deep colour, rich. Very patriotic photos too.
Keep on top of the trim on the CRV. I think there's going to be a lot of unhappy honda owners because of that feature on this rig sometime down the road.

Nice Work. Good Pictures. Excellent process. A good recipe for an excellent detail.

From the looks of the pictures the only thing that a sealant will do is give more protection.

I personally like Trim Restore. Use it often. I also buff after application. Seems to work for me.

you did a great job. I really BNB on those tires. I have 2-3 different tire products and i dont wanna use anything on them but the BNB,I like it that much. The colour is nice and deep..

Thanks for all your comments.

Re: BnB - I love it too; seems to be the perfect gloss level for my taste when I spray directly on and leave it alone. I switched to a finer spray nozzle and it now goes on more even. I have some Megs Hot Tire Shine that I am using up on my wife's Saturn...only BnB for my CRV.

Re: CRV Trim - I personally love the black trim on mine. When everything is sparkling, the black trim looks awesome in contrast to the silver wheels and maroonish paint. Trim Restorer has been excellent for the trim. The first time I used it, I applied it and left it - bad streaks the next morning. The second time I buffed off right away - better, but not perfect. The third time, I left for 30 min. and then buffed off. Perfect low gloss and stayed that way for a week or two. Another lesson for me about the technique being just as important as the product.

Thats one sweet detail. Don't you just love the look of PwC, but I can't believe the depth in color of that 1st picture with just PwC. The color on my wifes jeep is very similar to yours, but I got an outstanding shine after the PwC but depth wise nothing like yours. I use PwC on my car as well and I have found that using PwC I get a greath shine and using Natty's takes away from the shine, but gives a good depth. I also love the look of those tires. What's BnB? How long does a shine like that last?

Re: PwC - I am very pleased with the look after polishing with PwC, though I cannot comment on depth comparisons etc. as this is the first time I have used it. One thing to note is that I used PwC Blue...perhaps that would have an effect on your Jeep?

Re: BnB - Yes, as stated Bold & Bright from Poorboy's. The shine lasts at least a week, with regular driving and no rain. Not much of a problem here in Southern California. Even after the shine wears down, the tires still look black, never brown. The first couple times I used it, we had a little rain right after, and the dressing wore off quick. It is about 80 degrees this weekend, should last a good length.

I am curious to try EX-P and Natty's Blue sometime to see the effect.

I've heard that carnuba under poly is not a good combo, so I'm not sure if PwC then EX-P will work. Steve's the man to ask I guess.

I've seen several cars that were EX-P then Natty's... very pretty! Nice shine from the poly plus depth from the Natty's. I'm planning on topping my NXT with Natty's to see how that looks. :rockon
