First post which WRX color buy?

Which color WRX would be the best practical choice given my circumstances

Hi all



I have lurked a while and would ask your opinion



Newbie here....I am deciding between two 03 Subaru WRXs, black and a silver.



I drive 50 miles each way daily am very likely to move to a farm house 4 miles down a dirt road, (has an awesome barn/garage but that is another story!!)



I love the look of a black detailed car, hate the look of a dirty black car. Given the above can I ever keep a black car up to a reasonable standard and keep a life outside of detialing my car?



I have also read that the WRX silver is a harder paint as well.



Given everything else is equal which is a better practical choice, I have too many other things to do and cannot devote myself totally to the car..................... shame!! Do black cars actually get hotter than others in summer, is this soemthing I should be concerned about it MI?



Black knowing it will never look its best or silver which should be easier to keep at a more acceptable level.
 
Well I voted black. That was before I read the post *tisk, tisk*. I'd say go silver. First off, dirt roads are not too nice on the dust and there are the occasional rocks that come up and hit something on the car. Those nicks show up real nice on black. Along with not being able to keep it in a clean room :lol and the 50 mile drive, I'd say get Silver, it is very easy to keep presentable. Its not that bad a color either anyway, I know there are plenty of Silver paint lovers here...
 
I voted silver although nothing looks like a detailed black vehicle. Silver hides dirt and scratches well and I think it looks great all cleaned up.
 
I got a WRB WRX. That color sucks.



Its eye catching, but keeping it clean and spot free, no way man. If I had to do it over, Id get a silver one with painted side skirts, spoiler, Eibach 1" lowering springs and some anthracite P1's.



Go silver.
 
I voted black before reading your post, sorry, I would probably get the silver in your case. I couldn't imagine having a black car. I am too anal about my white car as it is.
 
WTF? Where is the choice for Sonic Yellow?



Everyone has blue or silver. Go for the Sonic Yellow!!!!!

Did I mention the thin paint on the front hood and quarters on a WRB or Midnight Black Swirl finish show rock chips and sandblasting like a mother?

Unfortunately, the silver really isn't any better at fending off rock chips . . . :( Great for keeping the swirls at bay, though.



Silver's probably your best bet with the possibility of a dirt road in the future. You might consider something like StonGard or X-pel (clear bra kits) for fending off the rock chips on the front end.

Everyone knows my preference for black ( 4 vehicles ) but sliver on a car that size will look better and larger. Black tends to make things appear smaller. With your situation ( 50 miles/day and dirt roads) silver is the only way to go. :wavey
 
Silver is more practical, but I would choose black to camouflage the weird 2003 styling. Why not go for the 2004? It looks ten times better (especially the wagon fenders), and would be happy in silver paint.
 
I had to vote for silver, too. From what I read here, if you have an Autopian's eye, the black is going to drive you crazy. Get the silver (or maybe another, fun color). Have a life. :up
 
I'd go silver myself. It seems like every WRX I see is either blue or black. Not that either of those colors look bad, but silver is more unique. (At least where I live.) Plus, you'll have a hard time keeping a car of any color clean if you're driving down a dirt road every day, and lighter colors hide dust better than black.
 
I voted for sliver, since i have a silver WRX. I think that silver and white are the two best looking colors on the WRX.

Soooo like the idiot on Millionaire I asked the audience and ignored their advice!!!





I pick up black 03 wrx in a couple of days!!! Great price, exact spec I want and a great basis going forward to build a great car!! Really excited I will have to compromise on the exterior a bit, not up to your standards but I will do my best to maintain a daily driver fun weekend track autox cross car that wil be cleaner better looking and go faster than most of the other cars on the road.



Already getting prices on expel and stongard. Does any one know of good installers in the Ann Arbor-Detroit Area?

I want to find the best real world regime for the WRX that takes ccount of other interests (some) a 3 acre plot of land an 1865 farmhouse, a job, passion for race sims and last but not least a wife and 2 amazing daughters..... Did I also mention a promse soem idiot made about a puppy????????

WRC Blue. The best is you are going to use S100. Makes it glow !!!! Silvers boring, I have a silver car, but it doesnt seem to gleem like others of darker colours, black is a pain as well. It will drive you mad.
 
I would say get the silver instead of the midnight black (which looks like a dark navy blue in certain lights)



I'd have to agree on the above post about the 3M scratch guard that's available. I myself don't have this, as I bought mine used (had 9K on her) and it was already riddles with pits and sctraches on the front.



Have fun with her and be safe. . .AWD can be tricky if you've never used it before, especially in the rain and snow. . .
