okfirst of all 1rst post and I wish I found this site 1 month prior.

try to make this fast. I own 2 cars, mine is a 2000 Silver S4 and wifes is a 2004 Red ALtima

mine - wax every year with NXT but needs major Clay because you can see really fine sap/rust like spots all over and feels like sandpaper(probably from sitting outside by Train in Chicago)

wifey - last fall paid for major detail and no noticable swirls and only light scuffs and what not.

I own

UDM, with all the CCS pads. have not used and will try first on my Audi

bought from AG

menz IP and FP (new detail kit from AG)

wolfgang paint sealant, Wolfgang Clay & Lube(have since bought Clay majic locally)

Klasse AOI, XMT 180 carnuba wax, Meg QD

also own FK425 and I think the fx-100 spray? have not received

also have NXT liquid wax, Dura 901 soap, and MF ......

ok - what to use on what and am open to purchase more supplies:woot:

wifes - maybe just KAIO(white pad) , wolfgang and carnuba by hand???

mine - clay, menz IP speed 5 with orange pad, then ??????? HELP:help:

Sorry if not clear. With what I have what would you use on each car and what steps.

what would you use on my Audi S4 and do you think the KAIO, wolfgang, carnuba xmt 180 is the way to go on my wifes.

wifes in really good shape and mine looks great but when you get REALLY close you see and feel all the contamination.

It depends on how nice you want it and how much time you're willing to invest. If you want them in autopian condition, this is what I would do:

Audi S4.

Sounds like it would definitely clay. If the rust is from falling debris then wash and clay should be fine. Otherwise you might want to look into a decontamination kit. Of course use a cleaner to remove tar, sap, etc. If you have not swirls you can make a pass with the FP and see if you like the final results. Then you can choose either sealant or wax. I wouldn't use IP unless you have swirls or other things that need paint correction.

Altima

If you feel the paint is rough after washing then clay it too. I wouldn't top a sealant with wax unless you plan to use wax exclusively after as sealant won't bond to wax.

I hope I answered your questions. If not, shoot again.

Time is definitely a critical factor in determining what products you might use in the detailing of your vehicles.

I'd probably do something like this given your arsenal of product:

Audi S4

Wash #901 -> Wolfgang Clay -> FP (IP on heavier defects) -> KAIO -> Wolfgang Sealant

Altima

Wash #901 -> Wolfgang Clay -> KAIO -> Wolfgang Sealant

Depending on the color of your wife's car, you could probably get away without defect removal (my wife isn't too critical of the defects, just likes the slickness). You could use FK425 on both vehicles after washes.

thanks MatrixXRS, the next question is which pads and speed on the UDM if you know or can help and speed. This may be dumb but say I use the FP with white pad and only have one can I also use the KAOI with the same pad?

Never cross contaminate pads. Each pad should only be used with one product. I use ziploc bags and label what product i used with it.

I'm not familiar enough with the CCS pads color-coding system, but I typically use a polishing pad at speed 5 on my Porter Cable for polishing (start with the lightest combination first), then use one finishing pad for KAIO (speed 3) followed by another finishing pad with my LSP (speed 3). It's excellent advice to use a different pad for each product to avoid cross-contamination. So if you only have one finishing pad, you may consider another.
