what can be expected...long wait before calls, short wait, need multiple times to same house over and over?

how many of you have done mailing advertising and what are your stories with it....successful?

I have about 4000 going out to two areas in zip codes next to each other just to test the waters. if it works, then great and I will do it again for sure...if not, ill try a different area and see the results and figure out new advertising methods...

In most cases there is about a one percent response rate and about a one tenth of one percent rate of landing a good detailing client. So basically, you are probably looking at about 40 calls and about 4 good detailing clients out of a mailing of 4000.

Frank, what sort of response would you expect from a mailing to existing/past satisfied customers?

I've not good experience with mailings (in other endeavors) but I've recently been toying with the idea of contacting my customer base.

I've been reading a number of different things that cover this particular topic. The biggest suggestion that everyone can seem to offer is this: make it personal. Mention what a pleasure it has to been to serve them and be specific when it comes to the type of car you worked on.

Knock out a form letter where you just change their name their ride. Simple and apparently very effective.

Yea I've recently tried advertising in the newspaper myself. Supposedly over 100,000 homes saw my ad and I didn't get one detail set up. I think I might have gotten 2-3 calls tops on it. Where to spend your advertising dollars is always a crap shoot. Word of mouth is still the best method of advertising. Anything else is hit or miss at best. I'm still searching for an effective way without breaking the bank.
