First Impressions with Jeff Werkstatt Products

I order the Werkstatt kit a few weeks ago it includes everything in a bottle. I finally got to use them and these were some of my initial impressions. Detail was done in 38-40 degree weather and it was partially cloudy.

Prime

Nice product. Seemed to work just as well as AIO. I however found it to not be as easy to remove. I dont know if this was due to the weather or not. Liked the final look better the AIO.

Acryllic Jet

Personally found this product to be very difficult by itself. Easy to apply, PITA to remove. Not the best look either right away cause there was so much of the product left on my car. BUT BUT BUT i found if you take most of the product off, not going crazy. Then wipe down the vehicle with Acrylic Gloss it turns out great. The Gloss seems to break up the remaining Acrylic Jet quickly and easily. I do have a feeling this was affected by the cold.

Carnuba Jet

Carnauba Gloss

These will be tried next time

Acrylic Gloss

I liked this stuff. Does not streak at all but it makes you work. It did not flash quickly I found it to by very similar to applying UPPS. Great look when your done.

Satin Prot

I don’t like bright glossy wet dripping rubber or plastic. I like a natural satin texture. I’ve always been a Zaino fan because of this. Prot is very nice, SATIN is the perfect description. This is up there on my favorite dressing list right now. Need to see how the durability is.

Quick Wash

Havent tried it yet

Autobody Wash

Suds up pretty good when you start, dissipates quickly though. Not like Poorobys SSS. It has a lot of lubricity, probably the most I have felt in a car wash. I thought it was a nice product I would use again. If you’re a SUDS guy don’t get it.

Overall it left a great look on the car. A very crisp clean glossy glass look. Will be using again. Sorry no pictures my digi is busted new Canon SLR coming for Christmas.

The best way I have found to apply AJ is the following:

1. Work with one section at a time.

2. Apply a small amount of product (a few drops) to a foam hand pad and apply to a section (as in a door, fender, hood, etc).

3. Without adding more product to the foam pad, lightly work the applied AJ into the paint.

4. Remove immediately with a microfiber towel.

Additional:

If there is excessive product that looks sort of like scratches, add a drop or two of AJ to the foam pad and wipe over the buildup of excess product and remove immediately with a microfiber towel.

Prime needs to go on in a thin layer (whether applied via PC or by hand) and you need to wait a full 30 minutes before trying to remove. I'd suggest adding 10-15 minutes to that time if it is under around 50 degrees.

I agree with your appearance observations. Prime to me has a wetter look than AIO and AJ has a clear, wet, glossy look. :)

Update us with your impressions of the products you haven't yet tried and the durability. :)

why are people having such a hard time with AJ? I have never found it hard to work with :nixweiss ... same with prime... easy on and off... im sorry you had such trouble... but its good to hear you like the looks!

I don't know why. It's seemed like a breeze to me compared to KSG.

I applied fairly thin, but made sure I got coverage and applied to half my truck at a time before removing. The next day I never found any residue. EVERYTIME I've used KSG I always found residue the next day and had to go over with Sonus.

AJ isn't the easiest, but much easier than KSG with a similar look.

that product is pretty good. I think i used about 12 drops for my GF's corolla. And ive polished and waxed it before but this time all i did was a quick FPII then AJ the car has never looked so good. The other day when my GF came home from work there was bird $hit all over the car, it rained later on that night in the morning the car was dry and the bird bombs were gone. all i can say is WOW.

I just received some AJ and it comes with a spray bottle. Has anyone tried it by spray? Do you spray the applicator or go directly to the paint? If you go direct, how much spray is used?

I have tried the spay AJ. I don't like their packaged sprayer because it puts out too much product; eventhough, I didn't have any real problem applying and removing the AJ. But, I feel I did end up wasting more AJ than I needed. I think I'm going to transfer some to an old Megs detail spray bottle with the finer sprayer for my next application.

I applied it with a mf cloth sometimes spraying the panel and sometimes just spraying the mf directly and did a WOWO application. I didn't try using it with a foam applicator yet.

wowo method for AJ supposedly works as Scottwax recommends or even something like 15 seconds of waiting and then wiping off.

^ that appears to be it.. I failed like that the first time..

then Scottwax suggested wipe on one panel, wait a few seconds, then remove with MF towel..

panel by panel ..

Sounds like it is like KSG because some people dont have any problems and other have major problems. Its probably all in the procedure (as Scott suggests), because I know I have never had any problems with SG it is always very easy to apply/remove.

Same here. I just don't care for the silvery sheen you get using SG on black. Love it on lighter colors though. However, AJ is wetter and deeper looking so I'll stick with it. :)

I didn't use much and I ordered 2 bottles. Probably last me several years of applications.

I've used my first bottle of AJ on over 20 cars now and sent a 3 oz sample to Patrick. I still have half a bottle left.

Is the AJ that comes with the sprayer the same formula as the kind that does not? I ask because the AJ I received came with a sprayer yet I have heard that the earlier version was applied directly to the applicator. Usually, products that come with sprayers have been "watered" down, so to speak, from the original formula in order to spray more easily. For example, Klasse SG does not come in a spray but I have heard folks putting a bit of water with it and using it in a sprayer.

My previous post in this thread asked about spraying AJ and I received a response that it sprayed too much product because of the sprayer design. I would rather put the AJ directly on an applicator pad anyway rather than spray but don't want to do that if the spray formula is watered down and meant to be used just as a spray.

My understanding is the product was slightly tweaked to make it more easy to use as a spray but they were careful in the slight reformulation to not affect the appearance or durability.

Honestly, I think using a foam hand pad is the easiest way to use it regardless of the version.
