Well Im 17, learned alot from everyone here.

Everything was done but polishing. I have yet to find a way to pay for the needed pads and a backing plate :\ I have recently talked to a local detailer, and am hopefully going to do some webwork [im a webmaster] for a few detailing supplies. I think Im getting the short end, but hey, gotta take care of my car somehow.

Story: My Grandmother as she passed away wanted me to have her car. We borught it home, and my dad and stepmom drove it on my dead grandmother's tags... for about 6 months. Neither took care of it minus ONE oil change.

[Note I live with my Mom and stepdad now]

Then I found autopia, and got obsessed. I have obtained a PC and polishes, just need some pads / plate and Ill be rockin :D I really try to take pride in it, as its a very rare color for this year, and most Nightshadow Blue camry's look like an off green :nervous2: it may be a 4-door grandma car, but I like it :)

Process:

Wash with megs gold class [rather strong concentrate, as it was filthy! [2 bucket method]

Dried with MF towel

Megs Clay kit, was on sale and came with 2 bars, lube, and a nice MF towel.

Duragloss Bonding Agent

2 x DG #105 about 3 hours apart

Toped with AW

Armor All Tire Gel applied on tires w. Foam Applicator.

Interior floor mats were pressure washed and spot treated, then vacumed with our rigid shop vac.

Interior got Turtle Wax Protectant. Great stuff.

Seats were vacumed and spot treated.

WIll post Interior Pics when camera gets a charge.

Thanks again for everyone who answered my questions diligently and put up with my newbness. I have some XMT polishes and the XMT glaze on the way. So hopefully soon, I can bust the PC out.

Thanks,

Ryan M

looks good. Find a way to get the money for pads and a PC and go around the neighbourhood and get people to get you to give it a good polish. You'll recoop your costs pretty darn fast.

Looks pretty good. What are you're thought on the DG sealants? Don't forget to dress the fenderwells, and although the car looks good, it looks like it could benefit from a good polishing.

I have the PC and some polishes. The pads are what is going to cost me. I want to do it right the first time, so a set of pads, backing plate, and the cleaning tool are going to hit the wallet pretty hard.

I LOVE the duragloss 105 sealant combined with the bonding agent and aquawax. Incredible wetness and deph. I have it on all the cars here: Volvo XC-90, Supra TT, and the SC400. So far its been a few months with AW being applied after every wash, and water almost bounces off of them. Im very pleased with this product.

Yeah it needs some swirl work done bad... I plan on when I get some pads, go over with the XMT series and their Carnuba Glaze, then top it with something else Ill spend some $$ on hehe.

I would have done the fender wells, but right when I realized I forgot it was when the first coat of 105 was going on. :doh So I might have to employ the use of our pressure washer . Forgot about it as my mom got it like 2 years ago, and its been used maybe twice.

Looking good Martin, really like that shade of blue. It's always reassuring to see that there are younger people interested in proper vehicle care. Your Camry already looks better than 9 out of 10 cars on the road so you're well on your way to having a stunning looking car. How is it under the hood btw? Have you detailed that area yet? Keep us up to date on your progress.

Thank you for the compliment. I always even when I couldn't drive it, have washed it when it got dirty. I am going to try a under the hood makeover with in the next few weeks. I just want to make sure i cover everything up that needs to be covered, and do it right the first time.

Ill be sure to update this as I go.

I was the same way with my familys cars and trucks. Just be careful around the alternator and the electrical components. Cover them with plastic and give everything a good rinse and spray with APC or a degreaser. Let it sit a bit and agitate if necessary then lightly rinse and dry. Dress it how you like and you're done.

Looks really good for no polishing. :)

What will really amaze you is when you polish it out with the PC and some good polishes. You think it looks good now, wait until after you use the PC on it. ;)
