Finish Kare 1000P

Several months ago FK1000P was all the rage with posters panicing when the old site went down. Lately I haven't heard anything of the product. Is this a case that pretty much enough has been said about it but people still love it or was 1000P a fad and posters have moved on to something else? It does sort of seem that the die down of discussion of 1000P occured around the same time Blackfire discussion picked up. Just curious if the 1000P lovers are still out there or are you reaching for something else now?

FK1000p is still one of my favorites. It might have been a fad a few months ago but it more than lives up to it. Nice reflective and glossy look, great durability, good value, easy application and removal, and beading and sheeting is like no other.

This. FK has been prevalent here for a few years, it just surged when there was talk of FK1 closing and the subsequent stock piling began.

OMG Finish Care may be closing?:scared: 1000P is definitely one of the staples in my details. I rely on it for all kinds of colors. I have yet to see anything come close to the reflectivity of 1000p, and it lasts alot longer than other products i use

No.

I think its a case of the "Flavor of the Month Syndrome", also known as FMS.

Back when I registered, all you heard about was Vanilla Moose and EXP, so I HAD

to get them. A while back, it was Fuzion, then 1000P, then the Blackfire sealant.

Basically, the cycle goes like this:

1. Product gets reviewed by trustworthy member, or new, exciting product is released.

2. All the newbs and most of us not-so newbs have to have it.

3. Hundreds of the same questions pop up.

4. More newbs get it, because thats all thats talked about on the first two pages of each section.

5. Those newbs go away.

6. Repeat cycle with new product.

What Im saying is, yes, most of the products are good, but just because we dont hear

a lot about them doesnt mean they have lost favor. Usually, there is just no more

to be said about them.

And for the record, there is nothing wrong with newbs :p

....that's why if a product comes along that I think I might be interested in trying, I typically will wait for all the reviews to come in first and then see if it the product has any staying power after the hype goes away.

That describes my purchasing philosophy. I generally try to wait till the hype dies down then see if people are still using it. Hence the reason I started this thread.

There is no hype when it comes to #1000. However, it comes in a plain looking container, doesn't smell like candy and costs very little.

We are in a candy store here - how many of us eat the same thing over and over again? That has nothing against the the product.

FK1000P is my go to wheel sealant hands down. For some reason I seem to do alot of work on BMW's (notorious for brake dust build-up) and I will continue to us it as my primary wheel sealant (even given the 24 hour cure time needed for proper layering).

FK1000P on the wheels will result in brake dust simply washing away with no effort (x1 or x2 on the rears and x3 or x4 on the fronts) and offer great durability and a good shine.

That being said, I tried FK1000P out on a few panels of my Carbon Black BMW and IMO it didn't offer the depth I was after (then again I have an arsenal of sealants and waxes I have used in the past so the bar was set rather high).

Overall, worth the $15 for a tin, even if you only end up using it as a wheel sealant.

NOTE: FK425-Best QD out there, buy a gallon.

Did you wait for 3-4 days before judging, because 1000P improves a LOT, gains definition, depth during its extremely long curing time. When fresh, it can be fairly neutral, even unexciting on some colors, so you have to wait until it develops its final appearance.

Been using 1000P for several years. It's for real. Lasts from late October - April through the Northeast winters. Looks good, easy to apply/remove, and when topped with 425, a very appealing visual impression. We've also had success with Collinite 476/885 and 845 through the winters.

Yep, I left it on for about a month, the finish had been recently polished as well. Don't get me wrong it looked really nice, but FMJ or JS109 topped with Pete's 53 offered me the look I prefer, just a personal preference. Not as durable as FK1000P, but I enjoy spending a few hours during the warm months reapplying sealant and wax as needed (just a weekend warrior here). I was thinking of going with 1000P for this past winter, but opted for 845 based on what I heard on this forum and have been really happy with it....sorry...starting the hijack this thread. I'm done ;).

OK.

Being a weekend warrior is not a factor here, everybody has preferences, and eyes, so choose accordingly.

Sometimes I prefer the glassiness of OOS, other times the richness of #16, yet another times the fascinating finish of Victoria's Chaos, etc...

1000P is best (for my eyes) on neutral or colder colors, and yes, there are warmer looking LSPs out there.
