Finally...I bought me an iPod...

YNOT

Poorboys Rules!
Well, It's only taken me a few years, but I've finally stepped up and bought me an iPod shuffle last week. All I can say is wow!

As a kid I carried my Sony Walkman with me 'everywhere'...always listened to my latest metal tapes. Ahhh...memories. It's just hard to believe that now I can carry so much music with me in something smaller than a matchbook...flippin' sweet!

I'm a music nut...a total heavy metal maniac. I listen to music all day and all night, pretty much anywhere I can. My wife bought me Sirius satellite radio a few years back for my birthday and 'Hard Attack' is all I listen to now.

Anyway...back on topic...we're taking a vacation to Cabo San Lucas next month and I decided that I could benefit from this on the plane since it's quite a long flight.

Granted the 'shuffle' only holds 1 GB of music, but it'll do for me. I've already got it loaded and ready for the trip...or anywhere else I can use it for that matter, it's charged and ready to go.:bigups

So...anyone else got an iPod? If so...how do you like it?

I just bought a Nano about a month ago (of course right before they change the price) and I love it, its small, narrow, and with the arm band I can velcro it on and take it with me jogging. I have a bunch of songs and podcasts on it. It just works great.

I've had several. My newest is a black 80G video iPod. Seems like they roll a new one out every so often, and I guess I'm just too tempted to hold off. :) I think you'll enjoy it.

I've have a 60gb photo one that I don't use much anymore. I had it hooked up in my truck, but then got a different truck and never hooked it up. I plan to hook it up in my Jeep I just got. I had a smaller one like the shuffle I used for the gym, that was great. I let someone borrow it and don't remember who.

What metal do you listen to? I've been out of the music loop for awhile. Think I have Mudvayne in the CD player now.

I have an iPod Mini that I use for deployments. I've had some issues with it, but overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it. I'd also be interested to see what type of metal you listen to. There aren't too many people that would subject themselves to more than a few seconds of Car Bomb, but I can't get enough of it.

my kids want one for their 8th birthday next month ..I'm resisting as this will only lead to bigger and more expensive toys :hotrod:

Ahhh yes...Mudvayne. My wife got hit in the head with a soda bottle at the Mudvayne concert last year. She already hates metal and that ruined her from ever going with me to another metal concert ever again...LOL.

Anyway...what do I lsten to...Slayer, Pantera, Six Feet Under, Early Man, All Out War, Exhorder, WASP, Cannibal Corpse, A Perfect Murder, My Ruin, Exodus, Fu Manchu, D.R.I., Kittie, Seemless...heck, I could go on for days here.

There are a ton of great metal bands out there.

Oh...and I also listen to some Christian metal too...Mortification, Metanoia, Pillar, Disciple, Eloi, The Showdown and more. Lot's of great Christian bands out there these days and it's always nice to listen to something with a more 'positive' message.

Oh yeah...and just because I listen to this 'metal' music doesn't make me a Satanist.:rofl

I just love shredding guitars and blasting drums and find it very inspirational...I love to bang my head.:wall

If you ever want to step into the domain of real metal you might want to check out Car Bomb, Dying Fetus and Chimaira. :rockon:bigups:bow

I bought a Sansa e280 (8G) in the spring to take on vacation and have been pretty pleased with it. All of our kids have iPods, but I didn't want to mess with iTunes, and another plus is the battery is user replaceable. I like being able to just copy over/back any MP3's that I have, especially since I prefer mine at 192kbs.

One of the biggest differences was a set of Audio-Technica ATH-CK7 earphones. The sound is incredible and they're a lot more comfortable than what came with the player.

Sweet, some old school metal too. A few of those bands I've never heard of, I'll have to check them out. I'll have to check out that Christian metal too. I pretty much listen to all types of music but mostly metal. We are lucky to have a decent rock/metal radio station here too.

Yeah....great song titles too...."Stripped, Raped and strangled",...etc.etc. You don't think that stuff has a psychological effect eventually?? No wonder they call it death metal. As far as Ipod's go, I will never own one. They don't even have a fm radio and there are LOTS of competitors with a ton more features at compatible prices.. (Iriver Clix, Cowon Iaudio 7, etc.). Just my opinion.

Is that why I have this naggin' voice in my head all day long telling me to rape and kill...Just kiddin'.

Nah...I think as long as you are raised right...there's nothin' to worry about 'long-term'. I've been listening to metal since grade school and I'm one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Never done drugs...never done anything 'too illegal'...overall I'm a decent upstanding citizen. Well...in my opinion anyway.:rofl

Besides...who listens to the lyrics anyway...I just listen to the riffs and drums.:bigups

Yep...those bands are great too! Chimaira especially.

:rockon

Yeah, I was just poking fun at you. The older stuff is good, but I'm just a little more into the newer stuff right now. My buddy suggested Chimaira and I get really pumped up when i hear any of their music.

I know how you feel about being judged by the music you listen to. Not many people understand why I'd subject myself to that, but like you said, the guitar riffs and the drums are crazy and get you pumped up. Yes, some of the music I listen to describes some pretty graphic things, but I don't allow it to change the way I was raised or how I act.
