Finally detailed a co-worker's truck. Lot's O Pics.

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
Well, I finally broke down and detailed a co-worker's truck. He has been hounding me since I told him I was learning how to do it and he saw my car and said I needed to do his truck. So today I finally got around to doing it for him. It is an 01-02 HD silverado. The truck is fairly neglected, he washes it every 2 weeks or so, only been waxed twice in the 2 years he has had it. When washing it there was no beading at all. Needed the clay bath really bad, he couldn't beleive the before an after sounds of the clay. The truck also had some water spots on it, the SSR 2.5 made quick work of those. So here's a few pics, I put in a good reflection pic of my Cobra at the bottom. Let me know what you guys think. And to you detailer's, how much do you guy's charge for a job like this?

That's not me in one of the pics below! That is the owner admiring his truck!

Wash (NXT)

Clay (Mother's)

Wash (NXT)

SSR 2.5--Sonus Orange Pad

VM--Sonus Blue Pad

EX-P X1

CMW X2

EX-P on the windows.

Meg's Endurance on tires.

4.5 Hours of fun!

wow!!! it looks like you took off that white stuff like nothing. did you go ssr 2.5 with a cutting pad or polishing? wow, he must have loved it!!!

RED! That's all I can say :D

Looks awesome. I agree that VM/EX-P/CMW is a great combo.

Something like that would be $175 plus topping it with CMW.

Hirosh--Do it on your Brother's truck, it looks awesome! The pics really don't do justice to the wetness of the paint. It truly amazing to be honest with you, it turns out great.

Zesty--I used the Sonus Orange Pad with the SSR 2.5. They call it a cutting pad, I don't know if it is the most aggressive of their pads. And then I used their Blue Pad with the VM. I am beyond happy with the results! Don't really know of the durability of the pads, they are already coming apart after a couple of details. I am going to give the LC pads a try next. Not sure which ones to get, I have the 5" backing plate from Sonus, anyone know if I can use the LC pads with my backing plate, or do I need to get an LC backing plate?

GSR--Really, that kind of job is $175? I had no idea it would be that much. I would like to do this for a profession, I just don't know if I am good enough to do it. But he says he would be very happy with this kind of work, so that makes me feel pretty good!!

funny, my work computer didn't show your pictures this well! damn, it is really really really nice! :D i definitely want to try this combo on my brother's Ranger. :D

O4cobra: That's a huge truck man. My $175 would include, wash, clay, 1-2 step polish, presealant (like VM, PwC, or AIO), sealant. Then, polish rims, clean and dress wells and tires. Dress all plastic/vinyl/rubber trim. Polish all chrome. Clean out the jams. I think that's everything. It would take me about 5-6 hours to do that job, but yeah I think that is a pretty competitive price.

4.5 hours? on a truck? man I took 7 hours on my car last time. I need more practice

I could have taken more time. But I wanted to get it done sinceit was a buddies truck! If it were a paying job, I would have taken a little bit more time.:D

very nice Kyle!!

Hey where did you find the NXT wash? I cant find it anywhere in Sac.

I get it at Napa or PepBoys. PepBoys seems to be a good choice for local product selection. But I cannot find DACP anywhere, what's up with that?

Cool, thanks man! I get my DACP up in Placerville at a shop called Custom Colors (or maybe its Kustom Kolors??). I call them and they order it for me to pick up the next day. It's a bit of a drive for you (up highway 50) but I prefer to buy locally if I can.

Hey Bryan, I just made a post on SVT about the guy asking you what to use on his Comp Orange Cobra. I gave him a little bit of info on what I thought, he's waiting for a reply from you. But while you are here. I am having trouble with swirls with the SSR 2.5, how will DACP stack up against it? Am I not using the right pad maybe, am I not trying hard enough, or is it product choice? I have been using an Orange pad from Sonus! I have been seeing great results with DACP, I really want to try it, whatcha think. Am I not giving myself enough time to remove them, do I need to spread the product a little longer?

What is Kustom Kolors, bodyshop?

Hi O4cobra,

Wow! The transformation looks great! Very nice work. And only 4.5 hours for that beast is a record in my book.

You and hirosh should team up. :D

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

Hey thanks Ranney! You know I have had a lot of people tell me that it was pretty quick. I guess I just tried not to make a lot of wasted movements. I have to say that maybe it was the Poorboy's/ClearKote products that made it easier. Hey Ranney, I need some LC pads, want to PM me a good deal.:xyxthumbs You know, I would team up with Hirosh, but his car is too slow:p, and there is a small body of water between me and you guys! Besides, I don't know how you paradise guys are in person, you maybe a little too easy going for us city folk! :D
