Fillers for the First time...

Hello,

So here's the deal. I am a recovering Zaino addict that recently got turned on to a Carnuba Wax. I gave P21s a try for the first time and the results are absolutely stunning on my black car. This year, I would like to spend more time driving my car, and less time polishing it though. The car is stored outside and it is always being subjected to the New York elements. I usually wash it twice a week in the summer, following proper wash protocol. Last year I was using strictly Zaino, and about every 6-7 wash, I would have to go back over the car with my Rotary and some ZPC, SMR, or Megs Swirl Free Polish. This is both time consuming (the car is huge) and even though I know any of the polishes I mentioned have very little clear coat removing ability, I am always concerned about the effects of a Rotary polisher going over and over a vehicle time and time again (reducing clear).

So I have come to the conclusion that rather than removing swirls all spring, summer, and fall, I would rather hide them; opting to only polish the car maybe twice a year. This year I will be giving Pinnacle Souveran a try. I will more than likely (HOLD ON TIGHT) put a couple of coats of Zaino on in the spring, and then top it with Pinnacle, and then attempt to just maintain the finish all summer long alternating between Pinnacle, and something with some filler. Because i have to tell you guys, Zaino is very time consuming and I can wax an entire car in 10 minutes flat. So here is what I am looking for.............. I am interested in finding something that will fill in light marring and swirls, and improve gloss and reflection. Something that is going to hide the imperfections and keep my vehicle looking freshly detailed and mirror finished. Any suggestions...........

I would suggest using a "hard carnauba " wax applied by hand.

I would consider PS paste wax a soft wax, and any fillers will vanish after a few washes.

Try a long lasting wax instead of a beauty type of wax .....

I like the beauty wax's because of the beauty part. I don't mind wiping on a coat of wax once every couple of weeks. I am just tired of breaking out the Zaino, and multi-coating the car.

Hard Wax??? Hum... Heard of it, but never thought much about it.

Tell me more...

I would consider 476s, fk1000p..etc- a "hard wax", but if you don't mind waxing every couple of weeks.:waxing: then the choices are endless...:nixweiss

Its not so much the issue of applying wax often. I don't mind applying wax weekly if necessary. The issue is paint correction and how long it takes. Even washing the car using the proper washing procedure, after 6-7 washes light swirls tend to re-appear. I live for a mirror, swirl-free finish. So what i am looking for is a product that I can apply rather quickly that will "cover" many of these swirls that will appear in time; thus limiting the amount of rotary polishing work i will have to do within the year.

Currently, every time the car begins to show any signs of swirling, I go over it with Swirl free polish, and a black pad on the rotary. But on a full sized car, this is taking me an entire afternoon.

I will continue to wax my car often to uphold the "protection" and gloss factor, but at this point I am more concerned with a product that will help to "cover up" imperfections and leave my paint looking mirror.

What about applying some Megs' #7 before applying a coat of your favorite wax? It should give you some filling, it doesn't take long to apply, and since you don't mind waxing frequently your should look good on a sustained basis.

Megs NXT 2.0 fills, can get it locally. Clearkote RMG/Carnuaba Moose combo would work. Could also go with glazes like Megs #7. Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish/Glaze fills very well, top it with BF Midnight Sun wax

Wow! I thought I was an addict. Listening to your story gives me strength. But don't try to hide it just work through it. Or, buy a white car, they can be less work too.

Good Times! Try the blackfire wax. It works well for me.

Just wondering, since you love P21S, why you want something different. Isn't P21S giving you what you want? :nixweiss

Dan, your question got me interested and so I've been searching through some of the detailing forums for nonabrasive glazes that fill. Here are the ones that seem to get mentioned the most:

Clearkote Red Moose Glaze

Poorboys' Black Hole Glaze

Danase Wet Glaze

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Al

I am trying real hard to cope with my problems. My addiction is getting really expensive and I think its driving my girlfriend away at times. I want my old life back, where I did stuff other than polishing all weekend long.

I have a white car also, but the other two are black. White is great... looks perfect after every wash. Black is a full time job... But when its done right, it looks the best in my opinion.

Thanks for the posts so far, I will give a few of those products a look at.

As for RMG, I've got it, and I have to say, I am really not all that impressed. There is a lot of hype on here about RMG.

Actually you are correct. I am thoroughly happy and impressed with P21s. I could probably do just fine with it indefinitely. But I like to try new things. Look at it this way. If I just stuck with one thing, I would still be talking about Zaino and would have never found P21s which I like just as much, if not more so. I have always been a fan of that "mirror" look Zaino provides, but I am finding that products like P21s, not only give you that, but also give you the warmness and wetness you are missing too. This is why I want to try Pinnacle. People are always raving about how deep, and wet it looks. Like I said, I am thrilled with P21s, especially at the price, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable beauty wax, but I just want to try something new to see if there is anything better that will catch my fancy.

For example, I've tried Collinite 845, and really don't care for it. I do however like 476s for protection, but it doesn't do much for the "look" of the vehicle.

Never tried it but primas banana gloss gets excellent reviews when it comes to filling slight imperfections.

My Jetta is white and when I polish with a simple non-abrasive polish the CC looks like it has a candy shell. It has a few swirls (which I admit bug me), so I joined this forum to find ways to safely control them. I have not started yet, but I will soon. If I mention to anyone that my paint is not perfect they look at me and shake their heads.......

I would love a black car, but it would drive me crazy. I'm interested to hear which products you have the most luck hiding swirls with.
