Festool RO 150/Makita BO6040 backing plates?

With the Festool RO 150 or Makita BO6040 "dual mode" machines are you pretty much stuck with what the manufacturer makes for backing plates?



I know about the Edge 2000 adapter conversion to make it fit, but is there any other option?

As far as I know, yes.



The PC is unusual in that it uses the backing plate mounting interface that's standard for pneumatic sanders.

I was told by a Properautocar.com rep that the Makita will handle the 7.5" LC pads fine. The backing plate that comes with it is 6". I just ordered it so no first hand feedback yet.

Yeah I wish there was a readily available adapter for the Festool and Makita because either of those machines could handle the larger Edge pads as well.

Don't waste your time... just go make the adapter and use the Edge 2Kpads..

you'll be much better off in the long run
