One of my relatives is a big car guy, has a few old clasics, a day to day car, and my fav, a 933 targa. Well I was learning stick with him ad he finally let me drive the Porsche around! That car is just begging to be driven hard, but to bad you can't get to fast in a fricken parking lot:( . Well he sad it needs a good deailing and we talked and he said he'd let me detail it. I promised him I could get the car looking better than it ever has or he doesnt have to pay me a dime. Now I'm beginning to second guess that offer. The car is a dark blue/purple metalic paint that was unfortunately botched up with a buffer and has marks all over it. They are moderately bad, probably about .3 mils. I was planning on using FI-2 with a foam pad (yellow probably), but think I might need some extra omph. Whats the concensus on the wool pad?

.3 mils....becareful if has a clearcoat as one would not want it to fail too soon due to being any thinner.

Post some pics. And Good luck!:xyxthumbs

Again, .3 mils is a guess and i know thats the "cutoff" point for the clear. N o pics sory. He just wants them gone.

The cutting pad and FI2 at speed 5-6 will probably do the trick. You might want to try the wool pad with a mellower product like SMR and experiment with the speed and pressure. The heat generated by the wool is very dependent on speed so take care at first. You may want to try the wool/SMR/speed combo on an area with really bad swirls and save the foam pad for less serious areas.

Let us know how things go.

meguiar's makes a product called body scrub. It is not very strong but it has taken out swirl marks for me on every car i have used it on.

I know I have been posting up alot on here lately and I hope its not annoying. This is giving me the opportunity to work on my writeup skills and get some more of my work out there! I have some more pictures from two cars I recently spent some time with. Not a ton of pics so I will compile them into one thread.

First I will start with the Ferrari 575. This is another car that lives in the facility I work from and I just could not stand to have it in there in the condition it was in, It was unacceptable for a car with a sticker price of over $225,000. I offered to take care of the car for a small fee but ended up just doing the work for free one day when I was bored...

Here is the rundown. I washed the car using Meguiars Auto Wash, APC, and a small amount of Dawn in buckets with Grit Guards. Clayed the car, polished with 205 using a white LC pad on my 7424. I prepped for wax using Zymol HD Cleanse and waxed using Dodo Juice Supernatural. I use Vynlex from Lexol for tire dressing.

I cant find any shots from the polishing. My main goal here was to properly refresh and protect the finish without using tons of time and product and get some good photos for advertising purposes.

I really like the HD Cleanse but I quickly figured out the best way to use it was one panel at a time. I've used the Pinnicle Paintwork Cleanser before and was able to apply it to the whole car them remove with no issues. The HD Cleanse was much more finicky... I love the finish I get from the Supernatural!!!

Next up is this Black Porsche 996 Turbo. It was in bad shape but I took care of it. After washing the car I decontaminated the paintwork and carried out the extensive paintwork correction using M105 and M205 with an aray of LC pads on my PC 7424

Prepare yourself... This beast had seen alot of neglect dispite only having about 12,000 miles on the clock. The car was covered with red overspray. It took me 2 hours just to decontaminate the paint.

Let the correction begin!

Sorry I kinda ruined this one being all in the picture! The combintion of the HID Metal Halide lights up top and the portable halogen lights provide a full spectrum of light that helps me alot during the correcting. Here are the after shots.

This will be my last write up for a while. I feel kind of bad for bombarding you guys with my work but I enjoy sharing, interacting and the feedback from like minded people! Thanks for checking it out! I will leave you with some teaser pics for my next write up but it will wait to get more pics before I do the whole thing!

No need to apologize for sharing your work and looking for feedback, that's what this place is for. Not to mention, your work is incredible! Keep it up.

Very nice work--is 7424 only machine you used?

i am new to the game since 2010 and i have the pc 7424xp and love seeing jobs done with only the pc--i am getting better at the tricks of using one and the methods of maximizing the pad use before rotating to a new one (pad per panel)-- i ust need more products to whip out of the arsenal :D again very nice work--keep posting!Taking picture

Beautiful work Tim.
Absolutely no need to apologize for posting to many pictures of such beautiful cars. You really did them justice. The 575 looks great, and I can't believe they didn't pay you anything for your fantastic work.

The work you did on the 996 was really awesome. That really was quite a transformation on one of my absolute favorite cars. I hope they paid you for this one at least!

Keep 'em coming:thumbup::thumbup:

Auto Concierge, kakeuter,Tru_Shine, Thanks guys I really appreciate the kind comments!

PAD2010, yes the 7242 was the only tool I used. If you know how to use it you can get most anything out in my opinion. I like it alot but I would like to get a good rotery soon.

bmw5541, thanks man! The 575 was a one time deal that helped me get my spot in the building. No more free work and no more appologies! haha
