Hello Luke and everyone

I am first generation Canadian Maltese. I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and raised to speak English. Sadly, I don't speak any Maltese at all. I've had a wild curiosity about my parents homeland all my life and have made several visits to Malta. I'm planning to go in 2009 but that may be delayed until 2011 when one of my sisters will be able to make the holiday with me.

My mother's maiden name is Saliba, which I am told means "cross". My father has a British last name because his father is an Englishman who married a Maltese girl. I know very little about my family history because so many of my mother's family were bombed to death in the World War. She was sent to live in Canada and met my father in London, Ontario. My father was raised in England (Bournemouth) but spent much of his young adult life in Malta.

I don't know how often I will post but am facsinated to find a forum with a thread mentioning Malta. So I signed on to the site just to say hello.

Cheers!

Danielle
