Favorite OTC wheel cleaner?

Hey y'all, I cleaned my car today and I always do the wheels first. Problem is, I cannot for the life of me find a GOOD wheel and tire cleaner. I'm not talking about a spray on hose off deal (those don't work for **** anyway), just something that is good, and with agitation will just make brake dust melt off. So far, I've used F21 "foaming" wheel cleaner, Eagle one all wheel and tire, mother's fx wheel cleaner, greased lightning wheel cleaner, simple green, and finally just carwash soap and water. Without a doubt, the eagle one is 20x better than anything else I've ever used. Problem is that it's too expensive (the bottles aren't pricey, but it goes so fast), and they don't make it in gallon size to the best of my knowledge. So what do y'all use that works like the EO, but doens't break the bank?

What kind of wheels are you cleaning?

I now use Duragloss's AWC and am not that impressed by it, personally thought Meg's hot rims (which is OTC) was better. Not sure where you live but from what i've heard Advance auto has a version of all wheel and tire cleaner for cheap. You might get away with diluting the EO 1:1 also.

Try sealing your wheels once a month and using the carwash soap/water mix in a spray bottle. ;) It'll save you money on wheel cleaner and the wheels will be much easier to clean.

I have been sealing them, I use EX-P :(

Anyway, the wheels i'm cleaning are these:

Typical clearcoated aluminum wheels. They aren't hard to clean at all, they just don't seem to melt off brake dust like I want. I just applied a coat of NXT to them all....god GOD are those ****ers reflective now. The metallic is extraordinary! Hopefully, I can find an EO substitute that'll be milder than the mothers (to me that is, that **** nearly stripped my lungs instead of brake dust), but can still clean like EO!

I love Black Magic Titanium, it makes my STI wheels go from black to silver with minimal effort. I have tried P21S,EO,Megs,Poorboys and TOL and it owns them all.

Once you get them clean use a sealer the Klasse AIO. This will alow you to clean with soap and water if you keep them clean

Turtle Wax Platinum Ultra Brite Tire and Wheel Cleaner....cheap, works wonders for me.

Being a previous E1 A2Z user for several years, the TW is better, IMO, and cheaper.

I'll have to check out TW when I run out of E1

EO A2Z is the best OTC cleaner that I've used.

If you want someting by the gallon (but you have to order it), that's also very cost effective look into the Hi-Temp line.

Wow - you use AIO on tires? Haven't tried that. Do you use it instead of any tire dressing? (I've been using Megs Endurance)

How does AIO hold up?

I think he's using it on the rims.

E1 is the best OTC wheel/tire cleaner I've used as well.

I like Meg's hot rims, I think its slightly better than the new EO foaming cleaner, both are good.

Now my wepons of choice are: ONR at around 4 oz per gal. and Wheel Brightener for REALLY bad wheels

Dawn dish soap for my rims - hey they are rims after all. effective, cheap, easy to use and always handy. I do seal them 1x every 1-2 months. I don't have chrome rims anymore (although i used it on those also) current rims are shot with a clear. have yet to encounter any problems -- 6 yrs and counting. But if buying something that is specically made for wheels or comes with a hefty price makes ya feel better then that is all that matters.
