Fatal Error During Picture Upload

I keep getting the following error messages when I try to submit a picture:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8192 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/detailcity.com/httpdocs/photopost/image-inc.php on line 81

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 43 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/detailcity.com/httpdocs/includes/functions.php on line 479

I am on a 56k dialup modem, if that makes any difference.

I'm really perturbed at the difficulties in uploading pics to DC.
