Hey whats up? Anyone elese out there tried the Farecla products?

I used them for the first time today, I can get them at cost from the place I used to work at so I thought I would give them a try.

In one word "Awsome"

This stuff is big bucks but I think it may be worth it.

With this product you first soak the pad then ring it out, next run the polisher so all the access water spins off.

Put the product right on the paint (use very little and thats all you need. Three finger tips worth did the whole front panel and half of the door on a 97 Dakota.

The compound has awsome cutting power. Compound is called G3. I use the polisher at 1800 rpm's(which they recommended) and it realy worked awsome. Another great thing about the Farecla products are that as you go along you have to mist the pad or area you are working on with water, when this is done it actually breaks down the grit to even finer particles. When I started compoundind it was leaving swirl marks but as I added the water and the grit broke down it started removing the swirls a bit. By the time I was done compounding the paint looked awsome, I could have probably sealed it then.

Next I used the extra fine finishing polish G10. Same thing with the pad wetting it and all. Same technique as the compounding stage. WOW what a finish just like a mirrior and no "hiddin" swirl marks to come back and haunt me.

I polished the same truck last season for my customer who works in metal fabrication and needless to say the truck is scrathed to pieces. Last time I polished it, it was actually my first machine polish job and I used that Meguire's of the shelf Step 1 2 3 stuff. "Brutal " by the way..... IMO

The truck looked way better after after the Meguires stuff but not even close the the Farecla stuff.

I usually use the Meguires Prof stuff with really good results but not like the Farecla......WOW

Anyone elese used this stuff yet?

If not and you don't polish alot I would maybe practice first cause the compound really cuts!

i have used the g-4 by hand an it made the suface real smooth on a 87 tercel blue, were the dacp would not cut enough to make the surface smooth, i followed up with g-10 micro finishing .:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Good products but not for the inexperienced or over-zealous. You have to be careful with some of the compounds cause they really cut. With reasonable care they will do an excellent job.

This is only in my own opion. I am not into the whole PC thing. Don't get me wrong they are great machines and great quality and I have a one, but it only gets used when I can't do the job myself and one of my guys is doing it. I am speaking on the Orbitable aspect of the machine. I really prefer a circular polisher and thats all I would use.

To answer your question I did use a machine it was a Makita and the pads I use are Meguairs.

Dark Red(Compounding Pad)= You get the cutting action of a wool bonnet with no swirls using G3

Yellow(Polishing Pad)= To polish using G10

White(Finishing Pad)= Use this agian with the G10 only use a bit more water this gives it just the right finishing gloss that I like. I rarely use this step unless a customer asks or if it's one of my cars.

I asked Farecla about pads and using a PC. Here is part of the responce.

You can apply both G3 & G10 using other manufactures of applicator pads, however you will not get the best performance out of the product. This is because we have developed all our compound products inconjunction with the applicators to get the best out of them. We do supply Standard G-Mops and

Advanced G-Mops with fixed backing plates in 14mm & 5/8" threads. With regards to the use of a Random Orbital polisher we would not recommend the use of these with our products when carrying out a compounding operation. We recommend the use of a standard polishing machine with an 1800rpm free running speed.

As I dont not have a buffer, does this mean my PC is no good with this range of products?

The Farecla products I don't believe will breakdown enough to produce the results you are looking for. Plus, the wet application is tricky and messy. I'd stick with Meguiars or 3M.

Easy to use, easy to find, relatively inexpensive.

I've seen Farecla being used in pro shops and it does produce some very good results. However, you can achieve just as good a job without the wet mess.

You have a point Paco. It is pretty messy. It does give great results though. I find that Meguiars does give the same results but with alot more time involved. When I have 6 to do in a day, we need to consider time.

Even by hand farecla does a masterful job. I've used farecla g3 on a compounding pad (foam) dry and it works fine. Will try the 3M rubbing cpd fine cut soon and compare.

Shouldn't be much difference in price as 3M make world class products in all industries but know how to charge for them.

Farecla g3 3kg in australia is $75-$80 but lasts ages especially if you do it by hand. Only need a dab of product on a well dampened pad.
