F150 Lightning Beware!!!

My PC goes to 7...
Toyota just released the supercharger for the IForce V8 Tundra.

From reading the specs, the hp is a little lower than the L, but it will be interesting to see how these trucks compare once people start supercharging their Tundras. Toyota made a s/c Tundra concept truck last year, so I'm betting that they will be releasing a version of this to compete with the L this fall or the following year. Here are some pics:

I think the projected price of the concept Tundra was fairly steep, but you could get a 2WD Tundra, s/c, LSD, and some wider wheels for about $30K. TRD headers and an aftermarket exhaust would push the price up a little more, and of course the suspension isn't sport. How much is a lightening? I think my next truck may be a Tundra.:D

It's not gonna compete....

The gen three lighing is going to be near 500 hp.... allready stated by Jack Coletti (man who runs SVT) saying that it would beat the dodge.

No chance.

Every time dodge chevy, toyota ect ect ect says somthin Coletti has somthing waiting.

Got some yota with more power? You'll need it.

Yeah, 500 hp would be tough to beat! You could still have a lot of fun in a $30K Tundra, though.

If you're on even more of a budget, the s/c V6 Tacoma is a lot of fun to drive. It puts out aobut 265 hp at the flywheel by just dropping in the s/c. You can get more if you put in some bigger injectors and modify the fuel system some more. I'm still trying to decide if I want to spend the $2500 for a s/c for my Tacoma. I'm saving up for a house, and that $2500 would go a long way towards building a nice garage to do my detailing in.

RIIIIIGHT, just like SVT had something for the Camaros and Trans Ams? LS1s have been beating up on Ford products (i'm talking mustangs here) for quite some time now, until the recent release of the 03 Cobra. Even then, the Z06 beats it. I can appreciate the cars, but never would I own one. Has anyone heard about the many problems '03 Cobra owners are already having? Go have a look at Stangnet.com and see. I'll stick with japanese cars, myself.

I'll stick with Domestic non the less.

I looked on Stangnet for some problems and only saw one guy with problems. From what I see most people love their Cobras. Can you point to a specific thread?

When did they start selling 03 cobras?

Well I've only seen the one reference, but heard of many others (about 4-5 people, through reliable sources) who are having odd problems with their new Cobras as well. They haven't really sold them in lots, most if not all new Cobras were reserved by the buyers and are being shipped as they are being produced. So only a few Cobras are running around right now, I doubt more than 50-100 so far... Really I think some domestics are OK, but on the grand scale I think imports are much better.. especially in terms of comfort and interior/exterior design. Pontiac's cars are all either you like it or you don't (extreme styling), the non-sports car Chevy's are all ugly (sans the Monte Carlo, I think it actually looks good) -- man have you seen the interior of an Impala! ACK! Anyways I'm getting off topic... sorry :) This post wasn't meant to offend anyone, just to state my views on automobiles :)

i've seen lots of them. About 1 a day on my 30 mile drive to school. They are the 03's too.

i'll always go with american muscle, becuase I know no matter what I can fix it. I don't want to learn how to fix rotaries yet (which most foreign arent but some are) but i will learn in two years.

Oh boy.... :D

Misinformation.. rotary engines are only found in the Mazda RX-7 and some other Mazda engines. You're right, you don't want to learn how to work on them, as you'd be doing it all day :) They are very high maintenence engines you must take care of them meticulously, which many cannot, and thus you see many new engines on used RX-7s. Most import engines are just like your American engines, they mainly use DOHC, inline 6s or transverse-mounted engines, etc. It really isn't much harder, you just have to know how they work... a lot of electronics (sensors, computers, etc.) go into the cars to make them run correctly, so if one little thing goes wrong your car won't completely die on you, but it will run weird... on my Stealth the IAC just went bad, which raises the RPMs when the AC compressor kicks in, and also adjusts the idle in adverse conditions... so the car would nearly stall out if a heavy load was on the engine (IAC was semi-dead, not gone yet) whenever I would slow to a stop (neutral/clutch). Getting a new one which isn't cheap.. but other than that my Stealth has taken care of me and I love how it drives. Good luck with your domestics though :up and have a good one!

Rotary engines are very low mantainance. I had a RX-7 for 7 years with the only problem @ 125,000 miles was the worn apex seals. Other than that the engine was very dependable and extremely easy to perform routine maintainance on.

Ford could never beat the Chevy muscle but they did win the war..

Mis-management at GM lead to the demise of the f-body, the real Monte-Carlo and Impala. :(. GM is so out of touch that they allowed the Vette to loss it top dog rating to Viper. Eventually I'm sure the Ford will improve their muscles cars/truck to finally defeat GM.

I should have specified the 3RD gen RX-7, the one most people know of (Apex seals).. my point was if you aren't careful the engines won't last, plus there are few shops that can work on them.
