Experience with Dr ColorChip

I have about 20 pencil point chips on the front 2" of my cars hood. Its a black infiniti M35X and the chips apear white so it looks horrible. I had thought that come sealant might have gotten into the chips causing the white appreance, but I cleaned them with Q tips and toothpick and it not removable.

I am not very technical at the polishing paint corrdcting process yet but my plan is to fix these and polish the entire car.

I own a Flex, PC loads of pads and Polish (SSR3, 2.5, 1, Professional polish, 105, 205, ultima paint prep)

Can someone tell me if the colorchip system will level out the "chipped" areas and finish well enough that the car will look 95% or better than factory? Do you clear coat teh chips/

Its a leased vehicle so i do not pln to clear bra, just get through the next year looking good. Car is an 2008.

Thanks

Still hoping for an endorsment on this system or another that a member has had a good result with.

Thanks,

Jeff

JSFM35X- IIRC the Dr ColorChip system does *not* use clear. Reviews here have been mixed at best, but that doesn't mean it won't work OK for you. I somehow think that on a black vehicle it might be OK if you're prepared for imperfection.

I just used Dr. ColorChip for the first time last week on my black car ... it works OK - not perfection.

Their process is very very easy and from 5 feet away you cannot see the stone chips any more ... up close you can see them but it is much better than before.

Dr C will work fine for your 20 pencil point chips. The kit comes with a small brush with a tooth-pick like point on one end and brushes on the other. You would simply dab the pointed end with paint and then dollop it into each chip. Let dry for a few minutes.

Next you use their leveling liquid on a soft cloth (old tee shirt) to smooth the paint blob even with the surface. I wrapped the cloth over a credit card to ensure a flat result.

That's it. Dr C doesn't use a clear coat. It will take you less than 10 minutes and get you 75% of what you want done.

Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion. Have you seen/used a better system? Keep in mind that I am a mid to low level weekend warrior. Also, if I followed with a light polish after the Dr Colorchip fully cured would that improve the results?

Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to respond and share your experience on the Dr Colorchip. If I go this route do you think the small kit will do 20 pencil point chips? Or should I get the middle kit?

Thanks,

Jeff
