Everyone Who Changed Their Facebook Photos To Rainbow Just Got DUPED

Wax Waster
Over a million people changed their facebook profile pictures to a rainbow filter in support of xxx marriage.

New reports reveal that the “Celebrate Pride” tool may not have been the best idea…

According to Daily Mail, this tool was actually Facebook’s way of performing psychological testing on their users.

Cesar Hidalgo wrote on Facebook yesterday. “The question is, how long will it take for people to change their profile pictures back to normal.”

Experts say that by setting up the tool, Facebook was able to get an unprecedented insight on how to influence their users. This would not be the first time Facebook has done this. In 2013, they published a study in which they admitted to conducting research into what would influence users to change their profile picture to a red equals sign in support of xxx marriage.

Suzy Moat, a Warwick Business School assistant professor of behavioral science, said that it’s normal for businesses like Facebook to conduct research studies on how to influence behavior. However, she she also acknowledged that it’s understandable that users would be upset by it.

“On the other hand, it’s extremely understandable that many people are upset that their behavior may have been manipulated for purely scientific purposes without their consent,” she said. “In particular, Facebook’s user base is so wide that everyone wonders if they were in the experiment.”

But Facebook has denied the claims. A spokesperson for the site told DailyMail.com: ‘This was not an experiment or test, but rather something that enables people to show their support of the LGBTQ community on Facebook.

‘The point of this tool is not to get information about people.’

But, as a report in the Atlantic points out, the site has long been involved in research to better see how information spreads in a social network.

For instance, in March 2013, the company published a study that looked at the factors that predicted support for marriage equality on Facebook.

Just goes to show, if you're not paying for the product, you probably are the product.

The whole concept of sharing on facebook is another way to spread a message by using people to propagate to other people. Facebook is always about selling with all the click bait that ends up with an add laden web site to show some a dachshund running on a trampoline.

It can inform and motivate for good and bad purposes.

I use FB as a way to re-connect with old friends I lost touch with years ago. The funny - sad? thing is, a lot of times I realize WHY I lost track of them in the first place - they bore me to tears!! And then there's the "I got to post everything I do every minute of the day, and who gives a poot about that. I think I'm down to about 10 people I still follow out of the hundred or so "friends".

Is this more significant duping than Fox does every day?

Robert

You mean Fox broadcasting or NewsCorp? Probably not, but it's a strange thing to bring up Robert. Ron was just making conversation. It's like me saying "Look how shiny this apple is" and someone says "Is that any more shiny than a well maintained ktichen countertop?"

Your username is upsetting. You do realize that can be taken the wrong way, right?

Thanks for sticking up for me. I have him on ignore, so I can't see what he posts unless someone quotes it.

He seems to have a problem with me or anyone who disagrees with him, as well as a problem with success (so it seems) since he wants successful people to be taxed at 80=%.

Guys guys guys....you're forgetting the main thing here. These people put a few colored bars across their profile picture, so now they can go to bed at night feeling good about themselves because they think they did something for the cause. It's all about the feels

Ohhh. Slippery slope for sure - the definition of success. I have a close friend that makes half what I make and he's better off financially because he's brilliant. Who's more successful?

I'm a flat tax proponent, but it's a pipe dream.

Ditto to both

Ahhhh, that feels better. Now I can go to bed at night feeling good about myself.

Funny you mention this Ron. I was going to do my profile pic on Twitter with the American flag until I saw the app to do it was inside twitter. On top of that, they included some profile pics of people who had used the app. That was a dead giveaway to me and I passed on it. These things aren't hard to figure out, but as we have all seen, over half this country doesn't give a sh*t as long as it's "free".

Free isn't necessarily free.
