As long as you do not walk around in Star Wars costumes or sit in line for a month (or days) prior to opening, you are semi-normal. ;) :D

No Wookie costumes here :)

There were a few costumed characters at the theater however...;)

Hey, one of my mom's fourth grade students reportedly showed up yesterday in a Darth Vader out fit, and was going to the midnight show here. I'll have to call mom and see if he was in school today or not.

Hey, is this one of those jokes where if you reply to the thread, you're a dork?

Oh crap, I just fell for it!

Just kidding... I'll probably watch it on DVD when it comes out, and I like the original movies.

i don't think seeing the 12:01 showing of any opening movie qualifies you for a support group. well, maybe if you've seen more opening movies at 12:01 than you've washed and waxed your car! ;)

I remember being 4 years old and watching the real Star Wars in the theater in 1977.

The last two were positively horrible in every regard except special effects; soiling perhaps one of the best trilogys of all time. The first three were awesome.

Looks like this current one is a lot more dark and in line with the first one from 1977.

Looking forward to checking it out.

I still have all my original (first three) Star War figures with weapons / capes / light sabres, carrying cases, Land Speeder, the various ships and other vehciles. My mother who is a 4th grade teacher has my original Star Wars enyclopedia from the 1980's in her classroom's library. She said the boys are addicted to it and have been reading it every day!

When I was a kid, I took the cape off my Darth Vader figure and placed it over a light bulb. It proceeded to catch fire and nearly burned our den down. My father came in, put it out, looked at me and demanded to know who did this (knowing that I did it obviously). I proceeded to shrug my shoulders and said I didn't know. My father whooped me so hard in the butt that I whizzed my pants. One of the few times I got spanked as a kid - my special Star Wars moment.

This was a first for us...just decided to go because this might be the last Star Wars movie for a long time.

Hey Spilchy, your old toys are probably worth a lot of $$. I know that if I could ever remember what we did with mine, I could probably pay off my college loans from the sale! (I would never sell though, those movies meant a lot growing up)

Sorry to hear that Darth Vader got you a whoppin'. A good lesson to stay away from the Dark Side :p

One more thing, you will like this one. Eps 1 and 2 were ok, but this movie makes it worth having to watch Jar Jar run around like a dork.

I saw it at 1201 too, though it ended up being at about 1230 (technical problems, I mean cmon youd think you could find a talented nerd at a star wars convention). Pretty good movie, I'd put it just behind episodes 4 and 6, and just slightly over The Empire Strikes Back. Sure as hell beats Episodes 1 and 2, the only way it could have been better is if Jar Jar had died horribly.

Jar Jar is the only reason I have ever watched a Star Wars movie.

I'll probably see it next week. I had all the old toys (remember the trash container from the Death Star!!!) when I was younger too!!

Wow...to think my wife and I contributed $7.01 each to the cause:D Episode III took in $16.5 Million from the midnight showings alone!

Before the weekend is over, George will probably have over $100-million in his Wookie-skin wallet!

What a great movie :bow

I remember the original three as kid, even though i've only seen parts of each and was kinda familiar with the plot and characters. I never watched Episode I or II, so I really though I was going to be throwing away my $9.50 on this movie, boy was I wrong. It was very entertaining from a non-Star Wars fanatic point of view and is definately worth it to see it in the theatres. Pretty easy to follow and was cool to see how they bridged the older movies with the newer ones, and set the stage for the original one. After seeing this one, my friend and I were pumped to see the other ones. Probably one of the best parts was seeing Natalie Portman :D , what a beautiful young lady :bow

At the theater I work for, there were quite alot of "die-hard" fans there to see the first showing. Apparently there were a few light saber fights in the lines to see the movie. I woulda liked to see that... :D

At our theater we were treated to a live duel between darth vader and a jedi before the preview began! Not too shabby of a duel...people seemed to be rooting for the dark side though

I was dying of laughter from the video clip in this link. It's from a showing of the Late Night Show.

As for Episode III, people here seemed to like it and critics, for the most part, seemed to think highly of it, but my wife and I didn't care too much for it.

The question I always asked during Episodes I, II & III was, "why are the characters so damn dry?" Can't they insert a Han Solo-type character to stir things up? Can a love story be any more boring and uninteresting than the one between Anakin and what's her name?

Between the dry dialogue and fighting scenes (which, BTW were so numerous and long, they got boring), I thought the movie was a disappointment....and any suggestion to the idea that this movie came anywhere NEAR Episodes IV, V & VI is pure sacrilege.
