P-S sorry for the mistake, i speak french and my english is not at 100% correct :P

Have you tried any engine degreasers yet?

I get good results with Gunk engine brite, heavy duty gel or foamy. Followed up with their Shine product. If you're looking for a full on detail have your toothbrush ready.

Thanks you :)

That old of a beater, some mineral spirits sprayed on, let it dwell, for ten minutes or so, do some agitation with a stiff bristle brush, re-apply the mineral spirits, let it dwell for 5 minutes, and then re-spray with some pressure of water and then some "any brand" of water based degreaser, let it set a bit and pressure wash the heck out of it.

Looks like some one did a bad rust proof and undercoat job on it sometime in it's life. A lot of that is not going to come off easily.

What year and what brand of car is this thing?

Yeah, just do as I posted, but don't point the pressure washer at any electronic boxes, those things can take a lot of abuse.

If they couldn't, they wouldn't run when you drove it down the road in a heavy rain storm.

Not like old vehicles from the 70's-80's or even very early 90's.

yes, ty for the ints. Ill try to find some of the product you tell me to get and ill post the result of the job

TY very much

Mineral spirits can be purchased at most hardware or paint supply stores, in any country.

Most water based degreaser or all purpose cleaners (suggest a concentrate form and dilute to label instructions) may usually be found at the same sources.

Got yourself some work there. That is some caked on grease and dirt. Mineral spirits, letting it sit on the muck will loosen it. But I would get a stiff cheap parts brush or a old (or cheap) paint brush and cut the bristles. You are going to have to disturb it. I would also try the degreaser in a can (gunk). Also, Castrol Superclean in the purple bottle is awesome, I really like it. Maybe do spirits first than a degrease. But mandatory you put some elbow grease into it.

Ron's advice should work well. I've done *much* worse engine compatments than that, and I'm confident you'll do OK. Use old rags (but still soft) for the worst of it so you don't ruin good MFs.

If you can use a pressure washer, the more you spray away with that the fewer rags and towels you'll need.

Give some thought to the rusted parts, how to refinish them in an easy but effective way.

I'd be careful about that, don't want aggressive brushes/etc. scratching everything up.
