While a friend of mine was on vacation, his bimmer was egged and didn't find out until he came back. And then another week passed before i got my hands on it.

the yolk residue was near impossible to get off. i basically had to carefully scrape it off with a plastic razor blade. After eveything was off, there was horrible etched paint underneath.

process:

Nxt wash

3m adhesive/wax remover

plastic razor

wet sand 2000

wet sand 3000

ssr 2.5 w/ sonus orange via pc

3m smr for black cars green pad

topped with s100

I don't know what to say except looking at your pictures you initially took a picture of the drivers rear 1/4 panel. The final shots are of the front fender.

Don't be sorry at all. I *can* see that there is a nice improvement but would really like to see that rear 1/4 panel. :)

Ya but his 2nd pic is of the door/front quarter and there is egg on it.

I would like to see the improvement on the rear quarter though too.

Nice detail!

Someone must not like him :)

Egg is BAD news. I think it's the egg white that causes the damage.

Looks like you had good luck getting it cleaned up.

thats a bmw ? what the heck year model? never seen anything like that before...

I think its an E36, which was introduced at the end of 1990. The first available models were the 316i, 318i, 320i and 325i. They were available up until 1999 when they were discontinued for the e46.

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the damaging properties of the egg are two fold:

1) the shell impacting the paint causes the 'ring' of damage at theimpact point. Once the egg hits, THAT damage is done.

2) The yolk contains a high sulfer content, and if left on for any period of time, causes damage to the paint/cc.

i also read here on autopia not too long ago that egg yolk is mostly protein, and proteins are consisted of amino acids.
