Effects of detailing with Zaino Z-2

I have a 2004 carbon-gray Acura TSX which has some minor swirls and light machine-buff marring (from a poor detail job someone did on it) all over. As a complete newbie to car detailing, I'm currently overloaded with all this information so I'm sorry if I don't have my facts and definitions straight.

This is my planned detailing procedure:

Wash with Z-7

Mother's Clay

Wash again with Z-7

Dry

Z-2 + ZFX

Z-2

I've read about polishing (covering the entire car with polish?) to deal with the clearcoat imperfections before applying the wax, but is this necessary with Zaino? I don't have any other products available to me right now other than the one's listed above (except Meguiar's ScratchX, but that seems to be for spot-treating). So my question is, how will two or three coats of Zaino Z-2 affect the swirls and scuffs?

Thanks!

They will do nothing to hide swirls or scuffs. You can use meguiars scratchx on the entire car if you want but I would wash the car after to make sure the z-2 has a clean surface to bond to.

If you are doing this all by hand I would apply the scratch x to the car with either a terry applicator or a 100% cotton towel folded over twice into a square. Use moderate pressure and apply in one direction. Do not apply in circles or a circular pattern.

Depending how bad the swirls/scuffs are this may take a long time. It will definitely take a lot of elbow grease! Just remember to take your time and work with one panel at a time. Checking your work as you go.

Although you can, you don't have to finish the car all in one day. I've known some people to do only a couple panels a day until they were done with the whole car.

Since you are using zaino products you could also look into zaino's new z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner Swirl Remover.

Good luck and remember to have fun!

Thanks. I'm a bit pressed for time right now, so I guess I'll have to try using ScratchX. I'm definately interested in Z-PC, but ordering off the internet right now is not an option for me. Just wondering though ... what are some recommended polishes available in Northern California stores for light swirls?

Without a PC you pretty much should just use ScratchX.

A polish doesnt fill the swirls, it will remove a slight amount of paint until they are gone.

If you want something to fill the swirls Megs has some "pure polishes" or Glazes that would work, but you cant put Zaino ontop.
