Effective alternative to steel wool???

When I get a vehicle with very dirty vinyl and leather I have always used a premium super fine steel wool and degreaser/all purpose cleaner. I am looking for an alternative to steel wool that is a little more durable, any suggestions?

Also another issue with even the finest steel wool is that it still tends to "eat" into some leather a little more than others. Something equally effective, more durable and not as rough would be perfect.

Thanks...

Boar's hair brush for leather and vinyl. Will not harm the surface and allows scrubbing with soap/water or leather cleaner.

It's one of the best investments you can make.

I've used 3M Scotchbrite pads on leather that is soiled so bad it wouldn't come off with just a sponge or brush. I certainly don't recommend it though because Scotchbrite pads are abrasive (probably on the same level as steel wool) and will "burn" through your leather if you scrub an area too much. If you don't have a less abrasive alternative that works, I would certainly recommend using 3M Scotchbrite pads over steel wool because I will last a lot longer and give more reliable results.

I would also like to mention that degreaser/all purpose cleaner is fine on most vinyl but I wouldn't recommend using it on leather. If you let it sit for more than 30 seconds on some leathers you can see it change the color of the leather. For your leather I recommend you go out a get your selve a true Leather cleaner and make sure you use Leather conditioner if you used degreaser/all purpose cleaner on it since those strip the Leather of it's essential oils.

dont mr clean magic erasers harm interior vinyl? is there any way to use them on the interior w/o harming the finish of everything?

Its never hurt anything ive used it on.

Ive used them on everything except paint and they have never damaged anything.
