EF HI wheel cleaner questions

I am thinking about purchasing the EF HI wheel cleaner. I've been doing some heavy duty research on the web and still have a few questions. These are my questions:

1) How do you test if your wheel is clearcoated or not?

2) if it is clearcoated, what are the exact steps i need to do to clean my wheels?

I know the second question is very general, but i am having a lot of trouble allocating the answer with the "search" utility. Assuming i buy the EF HI wheel cleaner what are the steps i do to clean my rims?

First thing to determine is what kind of finish your wheels have. If they are painted silver or some other color, then the method to determine clearcoated wheels is the same as clearcoated paint: Apply a little polish or cleaner wax to the wheels and look to see if paint comes up on the applicator. Yes? No clearcoat. No? You got clearcoated wheels.

Now, if the wheels are polished aluminum or machined aluminum, you can test for clearcoat by applying aluminum polish like Mothers or Eagle One. If the app turns black and the polished area of the wheels is shinier, then no clearcoat.

Most chrome plated wheels are not clearcoated but are protected with the same products you'd use on paint.

So, how to use EFHI:

(1) Make sure wheel is cool to the touch. Do not clean hot wheels.

(2) Clean one wheel at a time.

(3) Rinse thoroughly.

(4) Spray EFHI evenly and liberally.

(5) Agitate with a soft brush if needed.

(6) Rinse with a strong stream of water immediately.

You can use EFHI to clean the tires too. Scrubbing with a stiff nylon brush will get them clean prior to dressing application.

Happy cleaning.:up

mhsu408,

What wheels are you speaking of? Maybe we can help more if we know what the wheels are? Stock? Aftermarket?

Aren't you an Acura-tl.com member?

Bretfraz's advice is right on as usual. All I can add is this...EFHI is strong stuff. I dilute mine 3:1 with water to clean the raised white letters on my tires. I imagine you can do the same on your rims. If not, try 2:1 before full strength.

NSXNEXT: HAHAHHAA that's funny. it's kinda weird seeing acura TL members in another forum.

Yeah i'm an acura tl member. I kept getting banned from a-tl so now i'm on acuraworld as Dubs_minus_one

I have Konig Tantrums. 19s. I think those are silver rims.
