Edge Wave pad+rotary+compound=?

My L5-S1 is killing me!
I have been considering a wave pad for my rotary in cases where I use something like PG where for me it gums up real easy and is tough to control. Anyone try a combo like this, if so was it easier to control on the paint?

I now exclusively use Edge 2000 Wave pads on my rotary and dual action. I love them on the rotary, I like them on the dual action. I like to work the product for a long time with the rotary. The waffle surface does allow some heat to escape, which slows down caking. Ill continue to use the Edge 2000 Wave pads on my rotary and go back to flat Edge 2000 pads for the dual action.

Unlike most here, I do 90% of the prep with a rotary and just final polish with a dual action.

Thanks, sounds like it is worth trying.

I do most polishing with the rotary too but the more agressive in polish you go, the harder it is to use. With flat pads FPII is not an issue, PG is. I will be trying a 6" pad since I find the 8" to big for me.

I have been polishing with a rotary for 15 years. I have never used a flat pad on a rotary. 3M waffle, now Edge 2000 Wave. You may sling compound around, but the mess is worth the result.

I really like my Wave pads but I haven't been using them as much as I did when I first picked up a set. I really dig the blue waffle pad for finishing off dark colored cars but my flat pads see more use than the waffles overall. My yellow WW has very little use, I like the results I get with the flat yellow better so I use that almost exclusively for cutting.
I hit a new BMW 654i with the blue WW pad and P&S Dark Supreme polish, no swirls, no gunking, just an outstanding gloss

Really I'm just asking about the control of the pads with a heavy compound and a rotary. I'm sure the flat or wave both give excellent results.

Ah, I see :)
The Wave pads are definately easier to control than the flat pads, they don't grab the surface at all (more or less...) and it's really easy to keep the pad flat while working on a curved area. Be careful around edges though, I quickly learned that you can easily tear these things...User erroe though, by no means product error

I thought I had read that the waffle design of the pad actually reduced (if not eliminated) product sling???

I am still on the fence on the Edge system, but the waffle wave pads for use with the rotary have piqued my interest due to reported "safety" and lack of sling.

Rotary vs. PC. Not purely pad related.

Thanks for your response, but since there is very little sling with PC use, I would say that my question is definitely pad (design) related. I'm interested in further input specifically from those who have tested the Edge WW pads.

I did notice that the WW pads let less product sling out, but I've also noticed that it depends on what polish/compound I'm using. Regardless of the pad, I get more sling than I'd like with Optimum Polish, but with Optimum HC and my Presta Polishes, I rarely get sling. I'm attributing OP's sling to the chunkyness of this batch that I've got, hopefully it won't happen with my next bottle
