Edge Shmitt in Review

Just One More Coat
Edge Shmitt

Out of the package

The waffle weave foam feels like that of a finishing pad. The one thing that you notice next is the sturdy construction of the backing pad, which is made from yellow harder foam. The glue holding the two pieces together is very visible, and creates a very tight bond on the two foam pads.
The glove fits tight over your hand so that you feel like you will have good control over the mitt.

In the Soap and Water

I found that once in the soapy water this mitt stays snug on the hand which allows you good solid control over it. The white waffle weave foam had great absorbency that made it quite easy to get plenty of soapy water on the car and lasted for a few minutes or so while you worked the panels. What I did like was the ability to use this like a foam glove that allowed me to bend and push it into areas, like the corners of my rims, under door handles, etc.
One thing that it dose is saves time as you can move with the bucket down the side of the car quickly dipping and wiping. I didn’t feel like it was picking up a lot of grit from the car, and it rinsed out real easy for the next dip in the soapy water.

That back yellow foam is a bit of a rougher texture to the front and I used that for the grill on areas that had bugs that where harder to get off.
That might also be a good add on for further Shmitts is to have a double sided one for washing and the other for scrubbing

Final Thoughts

I’m not one for complicating the washing of a car, I like things that are simple to use, work well and don’t feel cheap.
This represented that in every way, it’s a very well made wash mitt that Aaron said will fit any hand. I feel like it will be a good addition to my washing gear.

Beemer Thanks for taking the time to do a review along with pics..

Quest:

1) did you notice any marring ?

2)after placing your mitt in your soap bucket did the mitt feel heavy after absorbing water?

1) none what so ever this WW foam is soft as a baby's butt, I think that its a finishing pad, or it feels that way

2) not that much it held the water really well, and even at that it was still easy to use, the fit on the mitt is real good...and that was a concern of mine as most mitts that I have used slip around on your hand not this one!

My wool washing mitt will soak up half the bucket if your not careful

At this point i haven't heard any claims of marring.. the reason i ask is if the Shmitt picked up water weight it could get tiresome..so do your sheepskin mitts still have a home :) ..

Joe

I'm going to give this thing a real go and see how it dose...I didn't feel like it was heavy at all, my lambs wool mitt picks up a lot of water and I have ring that out while using it.

I see a place for both of these in my washing....one thing that I can be useful, is in reaching in the wells, but I would like to see a harder faom pad for that.

I just used mine for the first time today and had great results as well. My findings were almost identical to yours, but you might want to pick up the wheel Shmitt to use on your wheels. It works just as well and will keep all of that brake dust off of the one you use on your paint.

Well then that goes back to what I said to Joe about one for the wells, I didn't see that one when I got this one...Thanks

I was happy with the results that I got
