Sorry I don't have any pictures to back this up, perhaps if there is interest I can take some tomorrow.
I just wanted to register and post about Eagle One's, Keep Clean Wheel, Spray. I read these boards but never registered.
Anyways its a newer product that AutoZone and Advanced Auto have on sale around here. It's not even on their own website yet and the only pic I found is above. It claims to Repel Brake dust for up to 2 weeks. On the bottle they show a half treated wheel, one side looking like mine after about a mile, and the other side looking like couple hundred miles.
I have never really found anything to keep the brake dust off the wheels on my cars. But this product really does seem to do the job, and very well.
The wheels on my subaru are oem painted grey metallic with clear coat, pretty common color. The fronts will show dusting within a mile or so of city driving, and by time I have about a hundred miles they look pretty bad. Pretty typical of newer preformance oriented cars. And I've come to live with it. By time I was the car and go somewhere, they are usually dusted noticeably by time I arrive.
Anyways I have driven today about a hundred miles, some highway some not, and right after a thurough wash (which usually exaggerates the initial build-up of brake dust), and the wheels are NOTICEABLY cleaner than they would have been. And to tell you the truth, the only places where they do show dust is where I have wiped the wheels with my finger to check contrast. Dust did build up in the many crevices and I sprayed it off completely with 40 psi on the compressor.
Application is strange, you will swear it's OFF bug spray by the smell of it. The directions say something to the tone of: wash/dry your wheels, spray Keep Clean on all exposed surfaces, and let dry for at least 15 minutes. The product will haze then become translucent. You don't wipe it off. I sprayed it on my wheels, it sheets drastically. Starting with the second wheel I covered my rotors with an old MF, to control the overspray. I kept the big shiny brembos exposed though and sprayed them also. It took a long time to dry, probably 1+ hour. Just as the instructions said it hazed then kind of dissapeared, but you can still see a thin film on the wheels if you look hard enough. There was/is still gloss, just less gloss at certain angles.
I can't say how LONG it will last based on time. But it's done it's job as far as repelling a large amount of brake dust. So I'll keep this updated. Thanks.
