detailed a friend's 2004 infiniti fx 35 and 20012 Nissan quad cab pick up today with the new eagle 1 element shield. i have detailed each vehicle in the past, coating the pick up with oc 2.0 and the fx 35 with duragloss enviroshield, probably a year ago. both finishes showed very little beading at this time, but cleaned up very easily.
after giving each vehicle a bath, i simply attached the element shield bottle to the garden hose and applied directly to each vehicle from the top down, including paint, glass and wheels. the coating was allowed to dwell a minute or so and hosed off with the element shield bottle switched back to the water setting.
eagle one advises to apply a thin coat, but when the bottle is switched to the on position, it floods out at a pretty good rate. it's claimed to be enough for 16 vehicles but I probably used half the bottle for both vehicles. probably my fault because you know if a little is good, a lot has got to be great.
I was surprised that the finish it left was pretty slick and hydrophobic, with a nice beading on the surface and a good shine. it retails at a local advance auto parts store for around $ 14.99.
conclusion: it was easy to use and the price point was good. it did leave a pretty slick, hydrophobic finish, with a good shine, but I have no idea what the durability might be at this time. the only thing I didn't like was that there is no real way to control the rate of application from the bottle other than turning it on or off, so I'm sure I used more of it than was necessary. I like it and it's a very good deal for the average joe, but i'll probably stick with hydro2.
