Dusting during polishing

I've been using Eimann Fabrik Power Wash + for my weekly washings. Is this too strong to be using every week? Should I be using something else on a weekly basis? Should the EF just be used prior to doing my full detailing (PPCL,Klasse twins, Blitz)?

Any recommendations?

I thought I was saving money buying a gallon of 3M Shampoo for $20 until I heard that Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo was only $10. Oh well I've bee very pleased with the Shampoo from 3M it foams up well and stays foamy and it washes off easily and doesn't seem to leave a residue behind. :up

i personally (note: i'm not a chemist)

use the EF but only when i need to. (when really dirty or neglected cars) i guess it also depends on how much you add to your bucket...

i feel that gold class is milder and i feel safer using it whenever i want to wash (2 times a week) without the fear of washing off any of the good coatings i applied to my finish.

my 2 cents.

Do you think that I could be washing off some of my Klasse?

Power Wash will not strip wax, and I know for a fact that it does not strip Klasse. I have washed the Explorer with it which had AIOx2 and SGx5 and it did not hurt it in any way.

I have the 32oz bottle of Power Wash instead of a gallon. I only use Power Wash when the car gets really nasty. I am planning on using it for my "Winter Wash" this year to get all the grime off.

What car wash would you guys recommend for weekly washings? Even though it's a daily driver (100+ miles a day) and it's dark blue, it doesn't really get THAT dirty. I think the Klasse helps out in that aspect.

Would something like Meguiar's Gold Class be good enough? Or should I use something better?

MGC is very good, but if you're itching to try something really nice (and expensive :D) try Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo. You won't be disappointed. It's soo smooth and foamy it makes Klasse look better after washings, IMO.

Another vote for the Pinnacle here. I've tried a few different washes and I like the Pinnacle the best so far. It is expensive but you use so little that it works out to be a pretty good deal. I've seen others break down cost per wash and when you see it that way, you can't help but give it a shot. I found that with my hard water here in the Bay Area, I get much more foam and smooth silky suds with the Pinn. over Meg. and P21S.

You should be very happy with the Gold Class shampoo. No complaints and the price is definitely right. If money is no object, then give the Pinnacle bodywork shampoo a try. Laters

I just finished my M105, and are about to start the M205. It worked really well. Swirls are gone, and most scratches corrected. The deep ones seem faded at least. I noticed that the polish would start to dust at the end of each section. I'm curious if this is normal, or what I am doing wrong? Polishing too long? To much/little product?

Thanks.

It is very normal. Don't worry about it. Just make sure to give the car another wash after polishing.

Thanks guys! Just finished the M205 a bit ago. Gonna get some shots pre-LSP. Gonna put on the BF Protectant right away here. Pretty pumped to get this done!

All the above are good ideas.

As for re-washing a car, sometimes it is necessary but to be honest I avoid doing it at all costs. It takes time, somtimes is a non option (especially if your mobile), and runs the risk of marring the finish on certain paints no matter how gentle you are.

If you must re-wash do it right after compounding, that way any mechanical marring you do during the was will simply be taken out with your next polishing step.

Dumbest thing I ever did was wait until I finished polishing a black BMW to wash it, some fine marks were instilled and I had to refinish the car.

Personally what I prefer is giving the car a good rinse down after compounding just to blast away any dust from the cracks and crevices. I flood the car with water, then come back with an electric blower and get as much water off the car as possible. At that point the car will have zero LSP on it so drying is a bit easier with the blower as your not just throwing beads around the paint.

I come back with an MF and some final inspection and gently dry the rest of the car, then back inside for polishing stages that do not involve heavy dusting.
