Duragloss LS & LC

I finally got a chance to try it out today on some old but in very good condition tan leather. What I found was that both the cleaner and conditioner were taking off the dye of the leather and lots of it! I even tried it on non-automobile leather and the same thing happened. This makes me real hesitant to continue using either product now..

Does anyone else share the same experience with these products? :hm

You saw it on the rag or you saw it disappearing from the seat? Meguiar's will cause some to show up on the rag, too.

Both. When it came time to apply the conditioner, I noticed when I was doing one seat that where I had squeezed a line of it out, as soon as it was wiped away, there was a notably lighter than normal area left behind where that line of conditioner was. Tried applying some more around the area and immediately wiping away, but that didn't help much. There isn’t much in terms of directions on the bottles but I did follow it meticulously.

Are you sure it wasn't dirt? I use the cleaner & conditioner on all the cars I do and I've never noticed it taking the dye off.

What cars have you used it on?

I've been using since spring 2007. Bought a gallon of each. I've used it on the leather for Volvo, Nissan, BMW, GMC, Acura, MB, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Infinity, Honda, Jaguar, Cadillac, Huyndai, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Lexus.

Well that's odd.

I know it wasn't dirt because of the other leather I tried it on, which was brown colored and guess which color came out when I applied it to that leather? brown, not tan colored dirt. :p

I'm detailling a 2005 Denali this weekend. I'll pay closer attention when I clean the leather this time. I use cheapo white MF's for interior cleaning so I should be able to tell the color of what is coming off the seats. It's always just looked like dirt to me.

I use the DG leather products quite a bit..and never had it pull color up..except once...it was Brown leather...I was cleaning it and it was all brown on the cloth...I stopped and thought things over...I finally figured I was pulling up Nicotine as the owner was a heavy smoker...after is was cleaned and conditioned..they looked great...the windows...dash and headliner all had brown residue from smoking...just a thought

I have done many brown leather and even King Ranch leather and never pulled up dye color...

Could the leather be a re-dye? Or maybe its not clearcoated? Thats the only reasons I can think of that the DG leather shampoo would remove the color of the leather. I have used it alot and have had no problems.
