Duragloss 901 VS. Optimum Car Wash

I have 901 and really like it, but I'm almost out, any input from those who have used both products?

also, I'm currently a student in an area with very hard water, is there any significant difference in that respect, its not my only concern as I will be going home shortly and may just pick up a bottle of NXT wash in the mean time to deal with the hard water

I haven't used the new Optimum Wash but it's supposed to be very nice, I do have Duragloss 901 and love it, foams like crazy and last, very slick and cleans good, leaves a nice shine, and it smells good.

I'm in Vegas now, and the water here is rock hard. I've been using ONR, and hard water doesn't seem to affect it in the least. Have you ever used ONR, or might you consider it?

i too love the DG 901/902, but ran out a few weeks ago. lately i've been CW&G and mark-v auto glow wash n' wax...

Optimum Car Wash is an excellent product and like 901, a little goes a long way. However, I like ONR so much, I haven't reordered the regular car wash.

It's my go to wash.

I love Z7 and Ultima Car Wash, but they are harder on the budget.

901 seemed as good as Optimum. Lots of people here swear by it. Detailer's Pride, DP Auto Bath Shampoo from Autogeek was just as good for me as Optimum and 901. Plus, it's often 2 for 1 at AG. I don't like Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo.

I've got some Einzett Perls on deck.

My current method (no garage and cars get dirty fast):

rinse

gilmore 2 foam gun on setting "E" with 3oz Optimum Car Wash

dwell a few mins.

rinse

2BM with Grit Guards

wash bucket is 2oz Optimum Car Wash, plus 1oz ONR in 3 gallons water

remix foam gun with 2.5-3oz Optimum Car Wash, plus 1oz ONR on setting "E"

I foam gun and wash 1 or two panels at a time then rinse. I use a SS wash mitt from Autogeek on the upper panels and switch to a SS from Detailed Image on lower panels.

rinse

then rinse with the nozzle off hose and dry assisted with QD.

I prefer Optimum so I can use the two products together. I welcome anyone's comments on my adding ONR to the foam gun and wash buckets. I figure it will add to the safety of a wet wash by providing additional encapsulation of dirt.

lots of people I hear dont like 1z Perls. I OTOH love it, its a milky foamy shampoo that is one of the few I've tried that "sticks" to the paint and still appears as foam on the paint after its out of the bucket..... 1z perls is a good shampoo

I like 1z Perls. I think is the best combination of ONR (not much suds, nice detailer finish) and a traditional soap (bucket, nice rinsing). It is just bit more expensive.

I have and use both. The Optimum product is exceptional. I just finished my quart bottle and will soon re-order in the gallon size. That's my strongest possible endorsement. The product is that good. Exceptional shine, good cleaning ability, exceptional lubricity.

It's very difficult for me to comment on "hard" water. Being in New England, hard water is everywhere. I sometimes have minor spotting issues. The Duragloss was always said to be good in that regard. Is there an issue with the Optimum product? Not that I've noticed.

If you're looking for a cheapie OTC product for the interim, I recently stumbled on Eagle One Nano Wash 'n' Wax. It's around $7 for a 2 qt jug. Big shine, good cleaning, a bit light on lubricity, which seems to characterize many OTC products.

Enjoy.

Agreed and I have the *old* version. A while back AG had it on clearance with free shipping so I bought a number of gallons. It is super slippery.

I have tried both Optimum and Poorboys SSS. I find that SSS has a tad bit more lubricity than Optimum. I love 901 it rates up there with SSS. I have started to use leftover NXT Wash for wheel duty. I found that it and Gold Class was a little harsh on my paint.

Good reviews here. I'm dying to try 1Z pearls as an ONR type solution. I think it was David Fermani who tried it and said that the gloss was superior to ONR.

Z-7 is a top product. I have used it for many years now.

1Z Einsett Perls is nice safe soap also, but I dont feel its a "slippery" as CG Wash & Gloss

CG Citrus Wash and Gloss is an impressive soap, but I don't want the "gloss" component to change the appearance of the LSP.

ORR washes are excellent, but sometimes I like to blast everything out it a hose. My wheel wells are huge and exposed.

Indeed!

IME, I find the Perls and Exclusiv Glanz shampoo, both by 1Z, to be almost too slippery. My wash mitt is always on the verge of sliding off my hand. The Optimum seems to be about "just right".

How would you compare the cleaning ability of Perls vs. Glanz? What about overall performance? I've used and like Glanz, but never tried Perls. TIA

Hmmm...more food for thought

I wouldn't mind a less-expensive alternative to my beloved Griot's Car Wash as I'm going through a *LOT* of it doing the YukonXL. I'd pretty much decided to try the Optimum based on tom p.'s rave review, but the above-quoted comment on the Poorboy's SSS hs me wondering.

I kinda knee-jerk about Poorboy's products, but when it comes right down to it I'm looking for a viable alternative to Griot's at the lowest price. Lubricity is *very* important to me so Pats300ZX's comment sure got my attention.
