dsms detail - Bentley Azure in Black extensive correction

2009 Azure in need of correction. This car was taken care of very poorly by a previous owner and several dealerships.

Prep consisted of fully stripping the finish of all prior wax and glaze before correction.

These wheels set the car off very well, not a standard option for any Azure, they come from the Bentley Brooklands

Wheels cleaned and tires stripped of all old dressing

Onto correction...

Initial condition of the finish was like this, everywhere. Minor marring with lots of RIDS and fine scratches, some scratches ran 8-9inches in length!

50/50 after 2-3 hits compounding + polishing

Few shots of the trunk, lighter defects in some areas

DSC08206.jpg

Heavier in others

Rear bumper was plagued and almost gray, even after wool and foam compoudning only about 80% of the defects were removed

Before, no need for light

After

The trunk area had some scratches too deep to remove with polishing so out with the DA machine and Megs unigrit sanding discs

DA sanding at speed 3.5 using the 3inch disc

Amazing work once again dave! What LSP did you apply? I've never worked on a bentley yet, but have one scheduled later this month. How was the paint on this?

Stunning! Love it. Nice work!:buffing:

One question....how did that car get so F'd up in one year? Mind boggling....

Slick black paint on that Bentley! Amazing how much damage happens in just a little over a year...

Car was at a few dealerships so its no surprise, some RIDS ran for half of the door, sad for sure.

I used powerlock on this car. This was some of the hardest paint I have done hate to say, takes a lot to remove a little. The Azures are all hand built in Crewe where the GT Bentleys are not so the finishes may be different. The white GT I did was hard paint but not like this car.

Great work, Dave! You're sanding with the PC? Didn't know it was possible!

Sure you can, just gotta be very careful and never sand an area that you cant reach a pad in to compound out, hence why I left about 1.5inches from the rear badge unsanded. Glad you liked this writeup Aaron
