drying micro fiber towels

When I put my micro fiber towels in the dryer on low heat, they come out with tons of static and dont feel as soft as they were when they were brand new... is that normal? I washed them using a liquid detergent.

Normal. Set your dryer to its lowest temperature setting for the final few minutes. What brand are your MFs?

For static take them out of the dryer while they are a touch damp (dry on low heat).

To keep them maintained try using a detergent made for MF's such as Micro Restore (there are other brands also). Also run them through at least a double rinse. Some think that MF problems stem in part from detergent build-up, and have run them through several rinse cycles until the water was clear. You may also want to try some vinegar in your first rinse.

I use low heat for my MFs and turn the dryer off when the MFs are just about dry. Then I just open the dryer, fluff the MFs, and let them sit in there with the dryer door open for a while. They air-dry for the last bit, and end up with very little static.

I always hang up my MF to dry. Synthetic fibers are more susceptable to static. It's causes by the movement of them in the dryer and the air that moves across. You can mist them with regular tap water before you use them and greatly reduce the static.

I let 'em air dry whether it's hanging them outside in the good weather or hang them inside if the weather's not too good.

Being synthetic, they dry quickly.

I now put them on low heat and take them out while they are still damp and hang them up to dry. Thanks to my fellow autopians my mf's are now like new.

I usually air dry mine on wood clothes racks. I throw in the dryer when completely dry for like 5 mins.
