Hey guys,

I am getting ready to head out on a 2000 mile road trip (actually, I am moving) from El Paso, TX to Tacoma, WA, and I need to know what is the best thing I can put on my 4runner to protect the paint from damage, marring, swirls, etc...

I just want to get it there in the best possible shape I can. There is som much wind and dirt/debrit here in El paso that I already have such marks in my paint. I plan on claying, polishing, and protecting.

Please let me know what I should buy for an LSP.

Thanks! :thx

For the front you can do a bra or some tape :D. Ive seen many people put tape on the frotn for a long trip, as far as LSP i have no idea.

When I have to drive through NJ's Pine Barrens..I always put a heavy spray of Z8 on the bumper and mirrors. Bugs and junk wipe right off when I get home.

will the Collinite help act like a clear bra, to an extent?

The 476S suggestion was for a durable LSP. I made a roundtrip from LA-TX several years ago and the Collinite did a great job of protecting my paint from bug splatter, etc. I chose it mainly because I knew I really wouldn't be able to properly wash the vehicle while on this trip and I wanted something that would hold up. It is also very good at releasing dirt from the paint during a rainstorm--kind of self-cleaning.

I wouldn't compare the Collinite to a true clear bra type of product in that it won't protect from rock chips. It is just a very durable wax.

Rocks and debris should be your main problem. I drove from NYC to Reno, NV in Januray and it was not pretty. I completely forgot to tape up my car, because I had way too much stuff on my mind, and my front lip on the GTI 337 (same one as the pic above) got sandblasted.

I would put some tape or a bra and protect that. The windshield gets a beating also, but in the spring/ summer months it shouldn't be as bad as the winter.
